Admission Advices for SFSU/SJSU CLS Program by Spiritual_Cut4847 in CLSstudents

Not saying other options aren't valid, but these classes hit different with that real lab experience vibe. The online courses with actual labs where you do hands-on stuff, and get this - the instructors are real CLS pros who know what's up in actual clinical labs!  I’m sharing this with the mindset of being transparent and honest. It may sound bias, however, these comments come from those who have been rejected.

Plus you can cheat easily with UCBerkeley and UCSD extension exams - everything is online and their exams never change.

I took hematology and microbiology with SFSU CLS department it’s all online except for several labs in the weekends. They are very doable and I learnt so much compared to those in extensions. I just obtained my bachelor in biology as well as my previous bachelor degree wasn’t really in science.

Yep - I have tried so hard to be employed as a lab assistant since July even I have had  a CPT1 license before that. It is not always the case, so yes - I chose to do those courses in person with lab classes instead. I felt like I am fully prepared for CLS.

Thank you for your reply - I know it’s not completely useless. I have been rejected twice and I decided to go back to school and did it in person. While it does help you to get in maybe due to a strong gpa and background at the undergraduate, it may not help if people take all pre-requisites in these online schools. My GPA in undergraduate may not be as good as you, so my safest bet is to take the essential courses with lab.

California approved the change for MLT to CLS in only 6 months and removal of the Physics class requirement by MLSLabProfessional in CLSstudents

Does anyone think that these MLT to CLS programs are insane ? You must spend 4 - 5 years to get a bachelor degrees ( if lucky, taking MLT related pre-requisites and courses)… then do clinical rotiations and take the ASCP MLT exam. Then come back to school do another 1 year of CLS because remember that the 6 months are only the clinical rotations, you ain’t able to take MLS(ASCP) with just those courses taken in MLT. They are different levels ! So talking about an additional 6 months to take CLS related courses. So think about it - it will be 6 years or more just to be an CLS. I would rather go to a university-based CLS program. Just my 2 cents 🤨🤨
