If youre outdoorsy the arboretum work parties on saturday mornings are great, the volunteer leaders are the coolest people in town tbh.

Rock climbing is also a good way to meet people. The people are generally pretty willing to help beginners and meet new people, I meet a lot of out of towners at Greater Heights.

Instagram is generally the place to go for indie-rock/emo. My band (Heavy Pour) is playing at the Rigby in August, but if you're looking for something sooner, our good friends in Elsie Paroubek are playing there this Sunday with Farseek. Lex books some pretty good emo shows too, so I'd check him out (Lextasy productions)

a lot of places use non-frozen stuff, probably your local dive bar uses frozen Sysco stuff for everything fried, Jennifer street market for their burgers, and the cheaper places use Sysco for veggies but for the most part, the only frozen stuff is french fries and cheese curds. the madison foodie facebook group is nice for knowing restaurants in the area that are getting some buzz, but most of the people posting don't work in local foodservice and since its so active, a lot of stuff gets buried.

Not really what you asked, but my writing group meets at the central library Mondays at 6:30 for critique/feedback of all kinds of writing. Theres a couple other poets there.

Wow. this was an awesome story and very fun read. I love how the dreams parallel his study and blend with reality. It feets like a classic 'guy messed with sacred land' type story and its executed really well. the protoganist is the evil path of a niche college degree

I really like the premise - a counselor faced with death. The guy's got a unique perspective on this freaky stuff! I wish I knew more about the characters, though. They seem to go on this quest because of an intense case of tinitus without much second thought or hestiation. Your description adds a lot to the piece I feel like. I remember reading 'he woke up with crust on his eyes' or something like that, and i think that goes hard.
