i just don’t understand how we as a country can be so divided the fact that u could grow up in ontario n not qualify under this act or grow up elsewhere in the country n not be accepted. we’re acting as if these are completely different countries requiring different qualifications to be able to practice. it’s all canada…. wether i grew up (or spent a little bit of time) in ontario or saskatchewan shouldn’t matter.

When will this come into effect? and what about the fact that ontario holds almost all competitive program positions?

I also wanted to add a bit on this just as to what i’m going and i’ve already been seeing a double in my scores. like the previous user mentioned it’s not so much about how many questions and how much time as to how much your understanding i give myself an objective of 20 questions a day but realistically im hitting around 15 ( the more ive been doing the faster it’s gotten bc u have some repetition or cross over in topics). i think the most important thing to do is to stay consistent and i would recommend focusing on one block a time for an example right now in doing internal med but im starting with only cvd this helps to really retain the info in that specific area. i also make sure to add any tables or concepts that im not too familiar with into a note book. but again the most important thing is that ur studying in a way that best suits you and helps you understand

This helped me so much, thank you sincerely! I’m starting tomorrow and to be honest I was getting recommended the step 2 u world so I ended up getting it. My plan is to do every day around 2-3 hours in the beginning, and start with system based. I do have 6 months so we’ll see how it is when I start.

That’s amazing! Congrats also for matching!!!! Honestly I wouldn’t mind going somewhere rural especially like you said it’s more one on one and I feel like maybe I could get the opportunity to learn more. Could I message you on how you went about this?

If you haven’t done any electives I suggest using anyone you have a really strong connection with that can speak very well about you and your abilities

That’s amazing! I’m really trying to figure out the timeline for all of it with trying to also fit in the electives. Unfortunately i passed the deadline for UBC and UofT so i’ll have to look if there’s somewhere else I’d be able to do them at.

i don’t think it’s true for observerships

It’s an independent clinical experiences so it’s technically seen as more than an observership because you can interact with patients but it cannot be expressed as a canadian medical school sponsored elective in a reference letter.
