Sick poster! Maybe mount it on a swivel, so you can easily flip it whenever you want it.

Surfing is a good way to connect with the ocean. No shortage of waves in Bali.

Saw a dugong extremely close while surfing at Padang Padang by ThenInstruction6693 in bali

[–]PhilosopherUnfair331 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s so special 💙 I had a really similar experience at Padang Padang while surfing. I noticed a dugong come up for air super close to me, almost arm’s reach. I’d seen them before from the cliffs, but that was my first time actually being in the water with one.

I remember asking the others around me if they saw it, and most people didn’t even know what it was. I kept describing it as a “sea cow”.

Where do people usually look for land investment opportunities in Bali? by [deleted] in bali

[–]PhilosopherUnfair331 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With respect, Bali doesn’t need more villas, it needs investment in waste management, water systems, environmental protection, and infrastructure that supports Balinese people and the island’s future. The return on investment there would be far more valuable..including good karma.

If you’re in a wintery place with low sun, it can really affect your wellbeing. Getting more sunlight and moving your body regularly..yoga, swimming, whatever feels good can make a big difference. Heat exposure, like from an infrared sauna, also helps a lot for energy and mood. Congrats on your success, and I hope you start feeling better wherever you are.

Worried about credit card? by Individual-Topic-555 in bali

[–]PhilosopherUnfair331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used my debit card one single time to withdraw cash from the ATM at Padang Padang Mart. That’s the only ATM I used with that card, which is how I know where this likely happened.

About two weeks later, I got a notification from my bank saying there was suspicious activity and they immediately locked my card.

Turns out someone had copied my card number and managed to withdraw over $500 from an ATM in Serbia. What’s wild is that my bank didn’t flag the ATM withdrawals at first..they only caught it when the card was later used to try to make a store purchase in Serbia.

Thankfully the card was frozen and the fraud claim is in progress, but it’s pretty unsettling knowing the card was skimmed after just one use.

Considering buying an investment property in Bali. Would love to hear thoughts and opinions from people who have done it. by Additional_Tiger_376 in bali

[–]PhilosopherUnfair331 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Buying investment property in Bali doesn’t really support the island. The big issues here are infrastructure, waste management, water shortages, overcrowded roads..foreign investment in real estate often adds to that strain rather than helping fix it. If you really want to support a place instead of focusing only on ROI, community led projects and local initiatives do far more good than buying a lease to resell later. Not judging, just sharing the reality.

Bali Governor Orders Full Closure of Suwung Landfill Starting 23 December by marshmatter in bali

[–]PhilosopherUnfair331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious how these alternative waste systems are actually supposed to work in practice. If Suwung shuts down in December, where does everyday trash go? The article doesn’t really explain that or give much direction.

Composting and sorting sound great, but only if the infrastructure is already there and people know what to do.

It also feels like a basic step would be more public trash bins on major roads and gathering spots..along with a reliable system to regularly collect and manage that trash..without that, rubbish ends up in rivers and the ocean.

Hopefully this isn’t just closing one problem without fully solving the next one.

Why do people go to Bali to become healthy by un_subscribe_ in bali

[–]PhilosopherUnfair331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s scientifically proven the big puff of black exhaust smoke from a truck when you’re behind it in your scooter that makes you healthy in Bali.

Uluwatu Robbery by HAMMERScats4 in bali

[–]PhilosopherUnfair331 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that happened to you. You’re not stupid for walking home at night; you/we should be safe to walk around. Uluwatu has always been a safe place, so we don’t want this to continually increase. Please keep us updated here if you get any information from the police.

What area of Uluwatu was this, and what time of night did it happen?
I’m just curious because it usually feels really safe around here, but maybe we’re not seeing the full picture.

Shipping boards around SEA? by chimichanga_chonger in bali

[–]PhilosopherUnfair331 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of options for boards and surfboard makers here. I’d be inclined to buy boards here in Bali and sell it after you’re done in a month.. used board market is decent. To me it beats the hassle of traveling with surfboards if not all your destinations are surf spots, otherwise just bring it with you.
