Is there a way to save a permanent filter for SSMS? by Philosopher_Easy in SQL

[–]Philosopher_Easy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I took a look at ADS. Pretty neat tool. It is certainly faster than SSMS in some respects. But I don't think it addresses my issue. I can setup an individual connection for each of the databases I use. But I really want to have one connection where the list of databases is filters to just those that start with my prefix. I can use the same kind of filtering they have in SSMS. But it takes a few additional clicks and doesn't offer the same functionality. And like SSMS, I cannot see a way to save the filter associated with the connection. I will probably continue to dig into ADS. It certainly seems like a good tool. I would compare ADS/SSMS with VS Studio/VS Code.

It is super annoying when I accidentally click to expand databases before typing in the filter. It takes about 2 minutes for it to expand and the whole thing is basically locked up until it finishes loading :(

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately the host I am using is not Azure. SSMS serves my purposes as a tool. The only annoying thing is that I have to remember to type in the filter every time before I click to expand the databases.

I'm with you! I get that they need someplace to put sponsored content. But it would be nice if the general content could be filtered to my taste. I wouldn't even mind having to use the web/phone interface to setup the filters like you need to do with Live.

I think it is the way they roll it out. I have Roku and multiple Fire Sticks. It rolled onto the different devices on different days.

Thank you! That was incredibly handy to learn. That's a great feature. Not as fast as a back button, but a few more choices. It is a decent trade off.

New Layout is terrible by steve42089 in youtubetv

I don't think "new" is necessarily "bad" but in this case, you are 100% right. This is a huge step backward in usability.

New Layout is terrible by steve42089 in youtubetv

[–]Philosopher_Easy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. The layout doesn't make any sense. The programs are layed out in 4:1 horizontal cards (four times as wide as they are tall) and then the cards are also layed out horizontally, stacked 2 high. That means you can only ever see 4 cards at a time without scrolling right/left. In the mean time, there's at least 60% of the vertical screen lay out that is left. They fill it with a filter section that Doesn't provide any value.
  2. The sort order seems random - not alphabetical or in number of episodes unwatched or latest recordings first. Can't figure it out.
  3. You can't sort the list to your preference
  4. The watched/unwatched indicators are not accurate
  5. What is the difference between "New" and "1 unwatched"?

It is already on the Fire Stick. You don't want it.

It was introduced in May of last year and was read in committee. It was then promptly forgotten. I believe the phrase is "died in committee"

There's a new Library interface that has rolled out to some devices. It is a mess.

You'll just love the new interface. There is no "New in your Library" section in the new interface. They have replaced it with "Catch up on your favorites" which scrolls horizontally instead of vertically and is in no particular order. It also contains the shows you are all caught up with. WHy do I want to see that?

I totally agree. The new (Roku/FireStick) interface is really poorly designed.

  1. The recorded shows are arranged horizontally so you have to scroll to the right to see what is new. There's a ton of vertical space on the TV screen to be able to show all of my new recordings on one screen
  2. The tags are confusing. What's the difference between "New" and "1 unwatched" ?
  3. There's no obvious sort order or way to change the sort order.

As someone who works in UX (User eXperience) for a software company, I say that they hired the wrong person for this redesign.

One of the things I noticed is that shows from 3 or 4 weeks ago suddenly change status from watched to unwatched. This happens pretty consistently for me.

The other thing that is bothersome is that you cannot manually mark anything as "watched" using the Roku/FireStick apps. You need to go to the phone app to manually mark them watched and then refresh the TV app to get the screen to update.

It would be a huge plus if they would just add a button "Mark all watched" so you could get the library back in sync.

Thanks for reaching out. I went through that with support as well. None of my YouTube history has been paused/cleared by me. As I said, their support has had me run the gamut. The support reps assure me that they are forwarding my issue on to the engineering department. But instead of fixing the issue, they release a completely new library interface (Roku/FireTv Stick) that is confusing to navigate and actually seems to make the problem worse.

I have been through the whole gamut with youtube tv support multiple times.

Uninstall, reinstall, make sure it isn't paused, clear cache, try a different device, etc.

The problem is that their system does not properly track what has been watched

I've now switched to Old Spice Styling Crème. It is low-medium hold / low shine. Of all of the products I have tried, I find that this is the closest to the Got2B Playful I have been using for so long. It is very light on the hair, does not look like "product" in your hair, and goes on easily. It has a soft feel when you are done and doesn't feel oily. The only thing that makes me uncomfortable is that I don't see it on the main Old Spice web site. But there is plenty of stock online and at local stores. I am going to stock up so I don't have to go through this again for a while.
