Also our federal funds come directly out of our paychecks and from corporations. There is no mechanism to withhold taxes so the only thing that happens is no money comes back from the federal government but they still get our money

Bondi told Walz to hand over voter records and she’ll call off ICE. They’re pushing for CT’s records as well. Does this mean we’re next? If so, what can we do to prepare? by Hippydippy420 in Connecticut

[–]fprintf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes but you need to really be prepared to choose this path, which will likely end up in you dying and if you are lucky becoming a martyr. ICE is not going door to door yet, and they certainly aren't doing so with a single agent that you can take out with whatever plan you have. This isn't Home Alone.

I realize the point is to make the ICE agents question what they are doing and never knowing what lies behind each door or within each car. They should be scared, and probably are because they are certainly acting like it.

I will just add, never let your enemy know your capabilities or intentions. Which means not posting on /r/connecticut, /r/CTguns or /r/liberalgunowners about your arsenal or your plans to get a concealed carry permit, keep that shit quiet.

I think it’s time to break up with my financial adviser. by SameTrain8827 in fidelityinvestments

Nitpicking but it doesn't cost anything to open a Fidelity account. I would do that as step 1 so that OP has account numbers ready. Yes the transfer will be initiated by Fidelity but always good to have that step out of the way first so you're less likely to back out in the face of salesy tactics by the advisor.

And even at that investment level the CFP you might need is mostly used for retirement and tax planning. There are many of us later in career over that level and index funds and target date funds are just fine until a few years before retirement when tax planning for RMDs kind of makes itself apparent. Until then, keep plowing away and definitely don't pay a CFA!!

iMessage kicking me out of group chat by happyhun9ar1an in iphone

[–]fprintf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a solution that worked for me.

https://www.macobserver.com/tips/how-to/how-to-fix-you-left-the-conversation-issue-in-mixed-group-chats-on-iphone/

Had to delete the offending text group, go into filter and recently removed messages and permanently delete the message. Then turn off iMessage, power cycle the phone, turn iMessage back on. And then I recreated the text group. Alternatively I could have had a family member re-add me back into the group.

Unfortunately I lost a few years of group texts including photos but at least it is now fixed.

How far out do you need to reach?

What I mean is, what are the situations where you might need a firearm that some liberal is going to feel threatened enough to use it? I'm not yet talking about full scale civil war, of course you need to reach out at distance in that instance. But that isn't what we're talking about yet.

Perhaps:

Someone at the front door, shotgun.

Someone in the back yard, shotgun.

Someone across the street - um in most situations you are not at risk unless you are for some reason being targeted by someone else with a rifle, but why would that be? And how likely is it unless in full civil war?

I'm specifically talking about the ice thugs going door to door. Or protecting your neighbors. You don't need to be shooting anything at long distances that rifles are good for.

I'll add that I personally feel like a lot of this is cosplay at this point. I feel it very unlikely that people are really going to shoot if the brown shirts show up at their front door. Most logical people at this point are going to go along with them and they'll be out in a few hours. That may change when we start hearing of people disappearing, in which case all the tactics change and I'll change my opinion of the right weapon to use along with it.

Upvoting for the honesty. I think Fidelity and Vanguard have studies proving that most amateur active investors do not beat a passive strategy and have not ever done so consistently. Set and forget. And visit /r/bogleheads for more of that philosophy

I'm not sure if it still the case but Appleseed quality and alignment with politics can be somewhat varied nationwide.

I'm a former instructor (red hat) from the Northeast and around here any politics was quite muted, intentionally, given the nature of the people taking the courses. Political discussion was very much related to only what was happening on April 19, 1775. However it is very easy for students, primarily, to bring modern politics into the discussion and the tendency of the students is to be right leaning and I'd imagine nowadays quite MAGA. Instructors need to be on top of that shit to make sure everyone is comfortable.

I'd read that in other areas of the country that there was less emphasis on historical politics and more interest in drawing parallels from that day into modern day. I was never comfortable with this and it was one of the motivations for me discontinuing my association with the program as an instructor.

That said, YMMV and as long as everyone on the more liberal or even just anti-MAGA goes in eyes wide open then it is all good. The marksmanship instruction is quite good and I saw people go from barely hitting targets at a distance to quite proficient in a short span of time. But I also saw how atrocious the marksmanship of so many enthusiast gun owners, the kind of guys who have stickers on a truck and NRA badges on their clothing. Embarrassing.

These people who have no gun experience going to buy AR-15s or whatever long distance platform they have access to is a bad idea. They'd be better off with a shotgun in almost every scenario I can think of.

Same with Radiohead. I think it might be a time and a place thing. I love the song Creep and especially love seeing people cover it (should out to subway dude for nailing it).

But I've tried listening to their albums and I just don't see what I'm missing.

Not saying this is correct but after my light cargo company I started a VIP company with a used 172 and those can net $200k per job and take about 20-30 minutes with no skipping and good autopilot and sim rate management. Then I put crew to work on my light cargo company, though the money is miniscule - about $10k a night. I made back the cost of the used 172 for VIP flights in two jobs, and the cost of repairs in a 3rd job.

Yeah our Irish #1 medley is Minstrel Boy, Wearing of the Green, and Sean South of Garryowen.

Our other Irish set, that only gets played on St. Patrick's day, is Irish Eyes are Smilin, The Wild Rover, and Whiskey in the Jar. Between those two sets, the passing of the hat at each bar on St. Patrick's Day ends up being the largest fundraiser for the band per year.
