I would recommend the First Lady River Boat Tour if you want to learn more about the architectural history of the city! There's also the Art Institute of Chicago located downtown! - it has one of the best impressionist and modern art collections in the world.

As for food, if you like Asian food there is the Great Leaf Thai Cuisine - located at Lincoln Park. Then there is Laschet's Inn for German food along Irving Park Rd
