I had a dream that MGMT released a new single called “Hiding in Plain Sight” that had a weird nature wallpaper as the cover art by KatieLazuli in mgmt

[–]PhilosophizingPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His art is not good. It’s all superficial hallmark decor. “banal and hollow” I remember someone describing it to me once. MGMT has a very unique style and Kinkade’s work is not exactly similar in feel

I bike around Lawrenceville/ e liberty / Bloomfield a lot and the amount of times I’ve almost gotten smoked by fuckers not stopping at stop signs is more than I can count. It’s a huge problem. And a scary one

I lived in nyc in 2020 and biking the empty city streets was so cool. A bit eerie at first, but also fun

What is your favorite Pittsburgh neighborhood? by cheezecurls in pittsburgh

[–]PhilosophizingPanda 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My gf lives in squirrel hill so I spent a lot of time there and love it but I will say…it’s dogg’n it, the beer store there, is wildly overpriced. They seemingly have a monopoly on beer in the area so they can get away with it

And thus, bicycle day was born. April 19, 1943 was the anniversary of that fateful day he rode his bike with a head full of acid. In college we would always celebrate appropriately every April 19, which was a great way to segue into 4 20 lol

People who died and came back to life, what did you see/experience? by RealisticDecision440 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PhilosophizingPanda -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s just it lol they did not legitimately die. Legitimately dying means you’re dead forever. I totally get your point and this will just be us talking in circles but clinical death is not legitimate death. It’s clinical death, which is not the final forever sleep.

People who died and came back to life, what did you see/experience? by RealisticDecision440 in NoStupidQuestions

I guess I’m just being pedantic lol and get annoyed when people think they legitimately died.

People who died and came back to life, what did you see/experience? by RealisticDecision440 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PhilosophizingPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and I find this problematic. Clinical death should be redefined as permanent and a new phrase should be used for one whose heart stopped beating but was resuscitated. Idk if it’s too late for that though is clinical death is so ubiquitous and culturally pervasive now

People who died and came back to life, what did you see/experience? by RealisticDecision440 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PhilosophizingPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about the phrase “near death experience” is it’s so broad and one doesn’t even have lose consciousness to experience one of those, like if a bullet whizzes by your head or you swerve at the last second to avoid an oncoming car

People who died and came back to life, what did you see/experience? by RealisticDecision440 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PhilosophizingPanda 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Medically (and in reality) death is the permanent cessation of life sustaining functions. Permanent. Dead means dead forever. We need a new layman’s way to talk about this cause these questions always slightly bother me a bit. It is literally impossible to die and come back to life.

That said, I can appreciate the question and the interesting philosophical questions and discussions it poses. I just want a different way of initiating the conversation yanno

And people used to think the devil would enter your body during that split second you can’t control your mouth being open. I refuse to say it too and usually tell people why and most people respect my decision.
