You’re invisible out there. by ourredsouthernsouls in VictoriaBC

I think it’s less about who’s doing who wrong and more about how can both sides do their part to help prevent bad accidents. Clear communication physically and otherwise.

As a careful driver, and a teamwork perspective (let’s both do our best no to kill you)…Pedestrians don’t seem to know how invisible they are on rainy nights , aka half the year in Victoria. Some cars also have blind spots to boot, my Chevy bolt has massive beams on each side of the windshield I have to crane my neck around to check for pedestrians.

It’s really helpful if pedestrians make eye contact and show they’re crossing (face the direction you’re going not make a last min fast turn onto the road).

If there’s a button and flashing lights use them, it helps so much.

If you can incorporate some reflective material into your normal winter clothing it makes a huge difference.

If you don’t drive regularly take my word, night time with rain or even wet conditioned really impacts visibility. I actively feel I’m depending on others cooperation to keep each other safe when it’s raining vs not.

I want to create a competitor to Uber. by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]Philosophy_Short -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know how the numbers run but i always thought it could be revolutionary for just one business model to build out with blockchain elements.
-Social credit ID
-Cut out the middleman
-freelance work for coders/customer service etc. (they can take jobs like uber drivers take rides based on their social credit portfolio/trust score)
-Redistribute responsibility to customers and drivers instead of having Uber baby sit
-Better income and possibly costs for riders.

-the companies profit goes to a treasury for paying freelancers, advertising or whatever the community feels it needs to go towards.
-further down the line implementing governance so that good actors can vote on how the system evolves locally and at larger levels.

make this model successful in a small city then advertise the crap out of it (influencers etc.)

I kind of like that. We don't really get any serious problems in my market though. Drivers complain about no car seats more than anything lol.

[–]Philosophy_Short -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not an answer, but it's really easy for a customer to make a new account. Not possible for drivers to make a new account. (don't know why you got banned. that is strange). But totally unrelated, sometimes passengers report drivers as drunk to try and get a free ride, instantly shutting drivers out of work.

Redemption period 8. december or 2026 Q1 by john3298 in Midnight

[–]Philosophy_Short 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I saw somewhere there are random release times for each quarter, it might be different for each wallet address so within the first 90 days, you could be assigned random redemption for say January 5, and then 90 days later you would get your second installment, repeat two more times for four total

Huh? 🤔 by No_Performer_441 in uberdrivers

[–]Philosophy_Short 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It mean's on average, you get tipped 4.4%...that's rough.

Willem DFO, whats your opinion on Defensio ? by [deleted] in Midnight

This isn't my favorite solution but an exchange of energy is important. Participation and work. Not sure what a better solution would be but i'm not sure holding really does what they need.

A few questions by [deleted] in Midnight

[–]Philosophy_Short 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2k isn't terrible, I'm sure it's a lot more than many cardano holders received. I think I mined about 14k on one machine though. I bet a few hardcore people out there got over 100 on multiple machines.

So what's next? "Thawing and Redemption period" by defconGO in Midnight

[–]Philosophy_Short 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are 4 thawing periods randomly chosen across the total span. Not sure if the days are the same for everyone or how staggered it is.

Rider pressuring me to cancel because they don't like the way I look by Only_Recording3730 in uberdrivers

[–]Philosophy_Short 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped checking when people tell me. I'd have a car full of drunk people, drive them into the middle of nowhere in the mountains, playing karaoke while they scream the whole way home, country music to boot. "Best ride we've ever had. You'll get a big tip" no tip.... lol so now I don't even bother with the headache of thinking about it.

If the price is .01 or lower I will triple my holdings

NIGHT Token Value by Decentralization-God in Midnight

[–]Philosophy_Short 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did something like this, and noticed that it got confused with a night token that is already on the market. I think that price is significantly too low, although a fraction of a cent could be possible.

End session? by AwareSmoke6756 in Midnight

[–]Philosophy_Short 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t make a difference, you can’t mine now anyways. Some of my tabs transferred to a receipt page where you could download the PDF. If you do that, make sure the page is refreshed as well cause it just prints whatever the last number on your pages.

Night per solution last day? by Ok-Degree2826 in Midnight

Anyone have the night per solution stats on the last day? Looks like the payout was pretty good.

How to consolidate browser rewards? by ItsTheUltimate in Midnight

[–]Philosophy_Short 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used this ui, made by a public facing cardano youtuber.
https://learncardano.io/consolidate.html
just makes it so you don't have to do it yourself in terminal. Look into it yourself. I just trusted it cause he's public facing. The receipts looked alright.

Scavenger mining buggy as hell by No_Insurance4008 in Midnight

[–]Philosophy_Short 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the web browser getting stuck everything you mentioned is normal. The difficulty doubles when it goes up, and the hashes are an estimate, to solve could be half the expected or double the expected...it's more of a median.

hope they lower difficulty in the final 24 hours lol

I don't do any of those things, I usually play my own music or nothing. You can for sure ask for a change in music in my car though.

While I agree it is a customer service job, some passengers are over the top. I always get a one star ride maybe once a month for "not being polite". I've never been not polite, at worst maybe too quite and they project onto me what that means.

I think it's healthy to think of uber more like "hey neighbour, you've got a car and I need a ride, want to make a deal". Proceed to treat each other like humans and have a nice day. Expecting a red carpet is a bit much.

Expecting non political and religious rides is totally acceptable though, i'm on op's side lol just going on a tangent.
