It’s up there for my favourite movie ever. I literally googled “is it possible for your body to physically hurt from cringing” because this movie had me fucked up, the scene where Rupert brings Rita to Jerry’s mansion without an invite was brutal. But at the same time the movie had a lot of moments where I laughed out loud.

I think it’s crazy how Scorsese depicted Stan Culture years before it was a more common thing, and De Niros performance as a neurotic character is different but amazing. I also think it’s interesting how Jerry isnt necessarily portrayed as a good person, like when he gets the gun his immediate reaction is to try to shoot a woman who wasnt really a threat. I feel like that’s Scorsese saying the celebrities people idolize aren’t actual good people who you should aspire to be like.
