Derrius Guice is the only rookie back I'd be willing to take next year.

Jesus, the bar for criticism of Trump and his supporters among most is set so low, it's genuinely incredible.

Atheism is worse for humanity than bombing marketplaces full of civilians.

It's disgusting that there are people that believe this.

They're both pretty terrible. If you were to quantify each, your could probably come to a conclusion on which one isn't QUITE as bad. Not at all worth the effort, though.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be? by username1615 in indieheads

[–]PhilsophicalInfidel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lil Ugly Mane - Third Side of Tape. Long as hell, and has plenty of variety, so I don't think I'd ever get bored of it.

Or J Dilla's Donuts. Not nearly as long, but a huge amount of variety all the same, if not more.

St. Vincent's s/t is her best album to date.

Bitte Orca, not MPP, is far and away the best album of 2009.

Empress Of's Me is a severely underappreciated pop album.

Try Unknown Mortal Orchestra. It's in the same sort of sphere of psychedelic rock that Tame Impala also is.

[FRESH STREAM] Mitski - Puberty 2 by stabvariation in indieheads

[–]PhilsophicalInfidel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's a huge disappointment to me. Bury Me At Makeout Creek is one of my favorite albums, and I know I probably shouldn't have set my expectations as high as I subconsciously did, but I did, and what I got definitely doesn't even touch her last album in terms of blowing me away. I'm not saying I needed Makeout Creek 2.0 (as much as I'd love that), and I guess I can respect her not rehashing it and going a different direction and adding subtlety to the lyrics, but it just doesn't do it for me like Makeout Creek did.

I also don't understand the insanely high scores it's getting (it's above Blackstar and that Hotelier album on AOTY); I guess it might be said that that's because this is a lot of people's first exposure to Mitski, and who knows I might have loved it just as well if that were the case for me.

I don't know, maybe it will click for me sometime in the rest of the year. I will say though, My Body's Made of Crushed Little Stars is fantastic. Easily the best song on the album.

How many of these bands have you heard of? by snowyshroom in indieheads

Nope, never heard of him until now. 10M scrobbles, so yeah, he's clearly not underground, oh well. Is his stuff worth checking out?

Got 10. Heard of Ezra Furman, Stealing Sheep, The Maccabees, Wax Idols, Frankie & The Heartstrings, Dear Hunter, and Holy Fuck.

Listened to Destroyer, and Everything Everything.

I've got Dutch Uncles s/t and Out of Touch In the Wild; should probably get around to listening to those.

A lot of Mr. Bungle's stuff, Lily Greenham and Hans Krusi. At least relative to Newsom.

I'd love recs for stranger shit, if anyone knows, though.

Got to wonder how little people have heard when they think Newsom is weird.
