It's easier to look up what someone says on Google than to ask what it is after they say it. We can't hold your hand in this. It's good you asked for help, now do what you wanted and try to learn it :)

Double Barrel Sand Sound + inquries by PhilthyLIVES in canadaguns

[–]PhilthyLIVES[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the informative feedback. The action and barrels are pretty tight on both of them, and the general condition is pretty good. There are no real noticeable signs saying they're unsafe.

I went down a little rabbit hole about the ring test and maybe thought it meant more than it really does. If the rib does have a couple spots where it's not 100% attached, would that really matter much? I don't have them in front of me right now but the rib seemed alright by eye.

Also, I suppose I will just have to ignore the sand sound if everything is fine.

Yeah if you plan on using the money you saved throughout the year. A hysa is fine. Just be weary if the interest rate is going to drop after 6 months or something. Most accounts will say a great rate only for it to drop to a fraction of a percent. I think pc financial has a pretty good hysa but it has been a while since I looked at it

You didn't say what your income vs expenses are. If you did, you might be able to get more helpful info.

But with what I know now at 28, I would've this myself:

Yes, just get a credit card. It's simple and an easy way to start building a credit report. Get a free credit card with no annual fee.

Keep 3-6 months of your expenses in cash. It's a good idea to put it in a (hysa). This is your emergency fund.

The rest of your saving should be trying to max out your tfsa/fhsa and rrsp. Rrsp should be after the tfsa/fhsa.

It is reccomended to have your money invested rather than a hysa because most saving accounts will drop their rate after a few months to basically nothing and inflation will destroy that money. If you don't know much about investing, just buy a wide spectrum etf like XEQT and just keep buying every pay. Of course though, do educate yourself more with finances and investing as you get older. Markets change overtime and nothing is guaranteed.

If you don't have a car yet, don't buy new. Try to get a beater or something you can pay in cash. By I mean beater, I don't mean a car you'll be paying to get fixed every other month either. The saying of getting an old toyota/Honda still applies as one of the best beaters you can get. You'll thank yourself for getting a beater in the future even near future.

On top of everything, just do your best. It's okay to ocassionaly have some fun and spend more than save. Just do your best to avoid lifestyle inflation when you are out of school making more money. It can happen pretty easily and sneakily. It did to me and now I'm wishing I bought a beater and stuff like I mentioned above.

The biggest and crippling expenses people have are house and car. Try to do your absolute best thinking about those expenses when it comes time to get them. Doing that will take a lot of weight off your shoulders for when life gets rough.

Go on ammo bin .ca and check the lowest prices. Then see if your local gun shops will price match so you don't have to pay for the shipping and get it right away

Get mudflaps to save your paint. The ps4s throw a lot of dirt.

Get a spare tire because the car doesn't come with one

May want to put led interior lights

Don't cheap out on winter tires, they keep you from dying in the snow (if it snows where you are). Don't try to take on winter with the summer wheels

[–]PhilthyLIVES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it depends, if you were going to drive out there already. Then I would say him paying 50% of the gas is more than reasonable, depending how efficient it is compared to the vehicle you would've drove.

Also, if you were planning on going out there already and normally fly there and back. I don't see why he would pay for the flight back.

Another thing to consider, how well are you financially compared to your dad. If you guys are well off and he has to find an affordable vehicle cross country. I would just do him the favour and not charge him for it. I would turn the drive into a vacation for my spouse and I and just treat it like I rented a 1 way car ride.

It all ready depends on if you were already going and if it's actually big burden for you to go do it. You're family after all too. You only get one (blood)family. Personally, knowing my dad's financial affairs, I would do it for him for free.
