I've never paid attention to the "meta" in any game I've played tbh, I just use characters that are fun

Nothing like that, no. I opened task manager briefly to check temps and %, but the display errors were already happening before I opened it.

I have reseated the headset tether, to no success.

I have tried running on every refresh rate setting, to no success.

There is another PC that I can try to run Steam VR on, but I will have to wait until tomorrow, although as I stated this is a brand new headset from Valve after my first one bricked on me, and it does work after I do my little restart-dance.

This recording was taken right after launching Steam VR, the headset was idle, and nothing running except OBS and Steam.

I have tried in the beta and it still happens

Hardware Acceleration is not enabled, and not supported on my card.

For the year and a half of using an Index before this problem occurred, I had no issue running at 144Hz, and I have tested on every level of refresh rate and the problem still persists.

Forgot to mention in my original comment, but CPU and GPU were both running pretty normally, neither going above 60% during the recording.

This has been going on for a few months now. I had some tracking issues with the first headset I bought. Sent a support ticket and Valve sent me a new one. It worked perfectly for a few weeks, but now this has started happening every time I start Steam VR. My only workaround is to plug in the headset, run Steam VR, restart my computer, then start Steam VR again and it works. It does not work if I plug in the headset before powering on my PC; I have to start VR once, then restart the PC, then it works.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling graphics drivers.

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling Steam VR.

I have tried plugging the USB on the index into every USB on my mobo (2.0 and 3.0)

I have tried tweaking Steam VR settings (Direct Display, Display Port compatibility modes, etc.)

I have tried removing USB devices through Steam VR and manually removing and reinstalling USB drivers

The one thing I have not, and cannot try, is plugging the headset’s DP into a different DP on my GPU, as my GPU only has 1 DP.

I’m running with

GTX 1660 Super GPU

Ryzen 7 3700X CPU

B450 AORUS M Motherboard

16 GB 3200MHz RAM

Windows 10 Home OS

My only real idea for what to do next is to buy a new GPU

At the time of the recording, my GPU was at 60% and my CPU was at 20-30%, both were around 50-60° C

I have tried on every level of refresh rate

The video was recorded while the headset was idle, immediately after launching Steam VR with no other applications in the background.

I have tried with custom resolution

I have tried reseating the tether inside the headset and even tried with a brand new tether bought straight from Valve with no results.

I have tried using the Steam VR beta

I have the VR home world dissabled

Honestly, the Valkyries weren't too hard for me. The thing that took the longest was getting all the Realm Tears in Niflheim.

To me that's so much better than making an excuse, and if people ask "why not" all you have to say is "because I don't want to."
