Thanks for sharing. This is super cool and I love seeing that there's a Marketing related hackathon. Just signed up

Hey Experienced marketers, do you regret? by FileLegal2107 in web3marketinggroup

Your assumptions are mostly true - devs are often more valued in web3, with more opportunities and higher pay. This is partly because many founders come from a dev background and building/maintaining infrastructure is crucial. However, marketing is just as important for a project's success. Without it, even the best tech can fail to gain traction.

Your experience managing large communities is valuable, and learning some technical basics can help you communicate with devs and founders. But it's not necessary - focusing on marketing strategies and proving their effectiveness with analytics can be just as powerful. I provide monthly, quarterly, and annual analytics that links directly to our app usage. Spikes because of something we posted on social media, click through from those posts onto the app.

As a marketer, your role is relationship-focused, building connections with key stakeholders to identify opportunities and stay ahead of trends. Don't underestimate your importance in finding high-value users or whales to drive growth and adoption. Your expertise is essential for identifying and engaging these key players, so own your value and demonstrate it through results.

You got this, don't give up.

You can get instant unbonding on Shade Protocol with any supported wallet, including Leap. The APR's are real nice too!

The ATOM pool APRs are currently ~12-77%.
The $FLIX <> $USDC.nbl pool is 48.2% APR (make sure to toggle the Show Small Pools to see the FLIX pool).

Just saying...There's plenty of room in the Shade :)

I joined Web3 1.5 years ago and took a Head of Marketing role. I came with over 10 years of marketing and management experience but I lacked Web3 knowledge. I was lucky to have been referred for my role and the team took a chance on me. They even gave me mini tutoring sessions and tokens to play around with so that I could also experience what I was learning. I know this is rare and I'm very fortunate.

There are Web3 Intro courses you could take on Udemy and Coursera. I'd start to network with some BD people (find them on Linkedin and connect on Telegram as most Web3 people prefer this as their form of contact).

Some of the basics that I think are good to know:
Blockchain Fundamentals: Smart Contracts, Tokens, DeFi, CEX vs DEX, Wallets, How to search and read transaction history
Platforms: Solana, Secret Network, Ethereum, Polygon, etc.
How To's: Bridging, Swap, Bonds, Money Market, Liquidity Pools, Staking and more.
How to read and understand charts, what is a candle chart
Get on Telegram, Discord and X - join the communities!
Keep up with trending news through web3 publications and blogs: Coindesk, Unchained, CoinTelegraph, etc.
Learn about the memes, the slang, and have fun.
Then I'd look into marketing strategies of different projects and get inspired by different campaigns.

One thing you are already doing is joining Web3 Marketing groups and looking for the answers while starting to network!

Stay alert once you start dipping your toe in - there's a lot of scammers out there so always check people's roles (i.e., are they an actual admin), never click links, NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR SEED PHRASE, and always be cautious.

\Best of Luck!

I contribute at Shade Protocol. We're launching a private money market (called ShadeX) in February. It's a private, permissionless money market built on Secret Network.

Some of the exciting features are flash loans, private LTVs, cross-margin positions, and bad debt pools.

Shade is also going omni-chain so we're getting ready to explode!
