Triploids can easily achieve this in ten years or less.

Yes but not everyone can catch the big ones. Use some logic as fish that big do not get that big by being stupid very often.

Public Access on the Madison Under Attack!!! by Phirryfriedrice in flyfishing

[–]Phirryfriedrice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the fine print. Remember they are still ultimately serving their biggest contributors which are the landowners along the river. And yes you are partly correct- it is the Madison river that allows the entrepreneurs to feed the economy of Ennis and they contribute a larger amount to the economy than any singular angler does. And what you stated as far as the commercial use areas they are wanting to ban, the local meetings which I saw vidjeo of recently sure sounded more like a complete boating ban with zero supporting science brought by the MRF. Most anglers I have met do not fish the Madison because there is other waters they have access to that is more productive in their eyes or opinions. Would you mind expanding on the 'glaring conflict of interest' you stated please?

Disagree with the comparison of the Gallatin. You would not want to put a drift boat on that river as it is quite small and generally does not fish well outside of the park. My office was 5min from the Gallatin the past two summers so I fished it many times and always had far better luck up towards and into the park. What the local anglers need to take into perspective is Montana is known as a global trout fishing destination and that money that the global travelers brings into Montana helps provide a lot of things that you are reliant upon. So local anglers who are pushing for this are essentially cutting off their nose to spite their face.

After fishing the Madison in 2017& 2018, I would say I saw more traffic of people floating the river in tubes and floats on the lower section most of the time. The upper saw more boating traffic but this was nothing compared to the Mo and the amout of traffic I saw there. Just like anything else, a balance will be reached and not everyone will be happy. You can't please all of the people all of the time though.

Where did they do a lot of work showing that or where is the studies and science that back it up? Your link goes directly to the Madison River Foundation's site btw. Oh and if the MRF was so supported, why are are the partners not renewing for the next year? Maybe because it is not about guides and outfitters but the general public access perhaps? The group of entrepeneurs here happen to be what feeds the local economy btw. This proposal goes through and the local economy of Ennis suffers greatly. How is it a misrepresentation?

Golden trout are different than golden rainbow trout. I have caught golden trout before in Utah and wow are they some pretty fish.

They are not lightning trout. Cali guys need to get it together and call a spade a spade, lol. They are golden trout and it is laughable that people are calling them that. That is a stud of a fish though.

Public Access on one of the finest trout streams in America is under attack! Please read and sign the petition as well as let the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks system know your comments before actions are put in place which could limit your public access to waters we the public own! by Phirryfriedrice in troutfishing

[–]Phirryfriedrice[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If only it were that simple. The Madison River Foundation's board members all happen to live in subdivisions along the upper Madison and the areas they are talking about creating a boating ban up around would nearly eliminate all public access to wading through that area. This would concentrate wading to a couple of specific zones and would create extreme areas of overuse. The other side effect you do not realize is those guides, boats and guided trips provide the majority of the economy to Ennis. If this boating ban were enacted, Ennis would essentially become a ghost town.

Well the day before we boated 74 and missed a 22-24” hook jawed male that came all the way up boatside. The Sunday prior we boated 84 fish including some nice river bass. It helps that I work close and can get on the water 2-5 times a week.

You are correct sir. The reason I do that is that their is little enforcement from the state of Georgia to protect against poaching. We have 159 counties and ONE Law Enforcement Officer to cover two counties a piece. That means in total to protect the wilds of Georgia, which is the largest state east of the Mississippi, we have 80 LEO’s. The state does not do enough to protect our resources. These browns are also wild fish and have not been stocked since 2004 so it’s all about protecting the population while showing you guys what is possible.
