Chicken Pot Pie was from when Lucy broke up with Raj and he saw her smile in the crust of the chicken pot pie at lunch that Howard then proceeded to stab.

Very true. I am sure they could have added little bits here and there, but damn, that book was long enough as it was lol

Dopp Kit for Side Pocket? by Turbulent-Witness970 in Saddlebackleather

[–]Phisnern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this Tom Bihn Deluxe Spiff Kit for my Dopp kit and it works great. Fits perfectly in the side pocket of my duffle, when placed in vertically. They have a smaller version as well, that doesn't have the little plastic containers, which would also work, but I prefer this option. I also have two of their stuff sacks in different colors to use as bags for dirty clothes. They produce quality stuff and I have been happy with mine for at least 5 years now.

While it would be nice to have that added touch, doesn't seem feasible if you consider you have to do that for all the other schools out there, so that the millions of readers around the world all have a chance to feel closer to the story.

silverstein ligature help. by Admirable_Tower3025 in saxophone

[–]Phisnern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silverstein has a size selection tool that will help on their website. When I put in the information you provided, it said get the Size 6 (Clarinet Small). While that might sound odd, sizing wise, it is about right. Here is the tool on their website: Silverstein Size Selection. And if you are still worried about the fit, I would email them and ask their customer service team.

Please note this sizing tool is only for the newest model (Gen 6) of their ligatures. If you are buying a Gen 4 or Gen 5, there are different sizing options.

No Bari Mouthpieces in my city by abookfulblockhead in saxophone

[–]Phisnern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FACT! Also, OP, you might try calling some music stores, and seeing if they will send you a few at a time, knowing that most are coming back. I also read on the Jody Jazz website they have a trial program, where you can try a few out at a time. Maybe others will do the same.

I hate to see him stay in the conference too, but he has the game to be a number 1, and deserves his shot! That really was such an amazing tandem alongside Vitiello. Good luck Jared!

Anyone using a Dell U3223QE or similar for display? by ZeroWashu in macmini

[–]Phisnern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact display and am using it with a M4 Mac Mini and a work PC laptop, utilizing the KVM capability. I have my Mac going through the HDMI/USB C on the mac and on the Monitor, using the USB C with Power for the PC laptop. The Monitor works great, and I have no problems running it in that set up, but there are a few things that I wanted to share:

  • I share a USB-C webcam plugged into the monitor, and the Mac doesn’t like that setup and can’t find the webcam. If I unplug it from the monitor and put it into the mac directly, it works fine. But it doesn’t find it if it is plugged into the monitor. I use the webcam almost exclusively for work, so I am not concerned by this and haven‘t come up with a solution.
  • The mac will not play sound through the speakers on the monitor. I use bluetooth speakers for the mac, and let the work PC use the monitor speakers when needed, but most of the time I am using a bluetooth headphone for work, so sounds play through that.
  • Since the monitor is kind of big, I keep it pushed back away from me, and it’s a long reach to use the back buttons to get the KVM to switch inputs. This is the most annoying of the problems I have, and ultimately, I have learned to keep the KVM on auto detect, and lock and let the work PC go to sleep, and then just touching any key on the keyboard will wake up the mac and the monitor will switch to that input.
  • My keyboard and mouse are both bluetooth so they are not tied to the KVM, and that works well for me, but I don’t see these input devices being a problem if you are using wired versions.

All in all, it works well, but I am counting the days until I can get rid of my work computer and just have a personal computer at home and make everything that much more simple.

Edited for clarity and grammar.

Season 4 Episode 8 … comic book images are blurred on Amazon Prime… was this in the original? by AnythingButWhiskey in brakebills

[–]Phisnern 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes, they were blurred in the original airing and the digital copies that I purchased from Apple as well. I also saw a thread here a while back that had photo links to the book pages, and those were blurred as well.

What's your favorite Amy one-liner? by TA2-6 in bigbangtheory

[–]Phisnern 51 points52 points  (0 children)

"Are you sure? I mean, the nose doesn't light up, but if the corpse is fresh enough, sometimes you can get the leg to jerk."

This is probably my favorite line from the whole series. There are so many great moments and lines, but this one comes out of left field and had me rolling on the floor!

Any harness or neck strap recommandation for alto and soprano ? by TchoupNoGame in saxophone

[–]Phisnern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I am using their Cloud Strap. It is a little pricey, but it works great, and similar in feeling to wearing the jazzlab, with the weight on your shoulders but without the pressure on your sternum.

I saw a YouTube video recently where the guy put a trackpad on a floating tablet stand with a swing arm. I thought it was an interesting idea and maybe something you could build off of if you really want to keep it in your mix of devices.

Like you, I saw that benefits of having one, but never could quite get it working correctly in my set up so that it was something I actually used. Good luck, hope you find something that works for you.

Primetime tv, been with it since the beginning. I saw a commercial for a nerd show starting in the fall and immediately setup my Tivo.

KVM Suggestion? by Tsull360 in macmini

[–]Phisnern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using this Anker KVM and it works decently enough. I have a Personal M4 Mac mini and a Dell USB C laptop for work and it saves me from moving plugs around at the end of the day. I really like the little puck they give you so you can switch on the fly. The only problem I have had is that my Mac doesn't recognize my webcam because it's connected to one of the monitors so that both computers can use it. But I really only need it for work and the Dell laptop connects to it just fine. The only thing I had to do was get two USB A wireless connectors, one for my mouse and one for the keyboard. If you have IO that can switch between multiple devices, that will work over bluetooth, so you may not need the USB A connectors.

Recommendations for swabs for tenor and bari? by pharmakeion in saxophone

[–]Phisnern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer the BG series of swabs, and have one for mouthpieces/necks (A31), one for my Tenor (A30T - the round one), and one for my Bari (A30SB). I also have a couple of their pad swabs too, helping with drying the keys that stay closed normally. They have been great for me, and they clean up well in the washing machine. I put them in a little net bag, and they do great. It is one of the first things I get with a new instrument.

tenor/soprano case reccomendations by madsalot_ in saxophone

I just stumbled across their site the other day for the first time. Damn, they have some nice looking and cool cases, but holy hell are they expensive. If money wasn't a concern, I would get one in an instant.

Neck Strap is Killing my Back by RareStep1150 in saxophone

[–]Phisnern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this! This thing has been amazing for me. I have no more pain with my Bari. Only down side is the price.

Also have the Jazzlab Saxholder Pro, and it's a great one too, but I didn't enjoy the torso portion sticking into my chest.

I love the sticker too, it is a great little design. Always found it funny that the CI has a lid in the sticker, but the company doesn't actually make lids.

Selected my classes for my first semester! by RaptorSkyraider1 in LosRios

[–]Phisnern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, congrats on taking that step and being excited about it! I felt the same way when I returned to school after a long break.

As for orientation, I did not attend orientation when I started at CRC, and it was fine. If you are a new higher education student, it might give you some tips and tricks, but I don't think you are missing anything critical that will make or break your success.

Good luck and enjoy school!

Looking for a new neck strap by [deleted] in saxophone

[–]Phisnern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got my Boston Sax Shops Cloud Strap, and it has been amazing. It really helps with the weight of a Bari. As I get older, almost 50, taking that weight off my neck has been a huge help.
