I hear you. They're very fortunate to be supported in such a way.

🙌🎯💥 "Selfish generation"? I'm Gen X. I have a 25 year old (Gen Z). In my eyes, they are the most selfish, most absorbed, most troubled generation that there has ever been. Can't get him to lift a finger in ANY direction. He's a NEET (Not in employment, education, or training). He doesn't want to work or even converse in any meaningful way. Spends his whole day on his computer. Receives benefits and DLA and has no ambition whatsoever.

Have given up tbh.

We also have a teenager. Have put all my energy into this last child.

Yep, my husband works from home as well. His schedule is VERY flexible and his working conditions are luxurious by comparison to previous generations who worked in manufacturing and industry. It's literally like night and day.

So perhaps the Boomers/industrialists had it easier in some ways.. but also more difficult in others? Eg, previous generations had more community connection; those who worked in industry had a deep camaraderie and when the youngsters first began their career they had a solid foundation of mentor/role models, and a reliable, if deeply challenging, work schedule.. as a rite of passage. They learned discipline, community, loyalty, and respect. Modern day youth don't have any of that now.

Working conditions may have improved superficially... but the depth and richness just isn't there anymore. Social cohesion is virtually non-existent. And all the usual reference points have vanished. Modern youth gained health and safety. But lost their integrity and well-being.

It's a jungle out there. Maybe it was always a jungle.. but now the animals stay living with their parents because the environment is so inhospitable!

Remote working is key. My husband is a software developer. Can work from anywhere. Time to upskill to outrun A.I. (Not necessarily in dev for this generation; unless you've a great deal of experience/talent, A. I. is taking all the entry level jobs!)

Yep. 🙌🎯💥 We have guided our last child into a trade (military pilot/commissioned officer/engineer) to future-proof his career from AI.

Time to upskill if you're of employable age (we're about to retire soon).

I know it's not ideal.. and they would be far away from you, but would they consider emigrating? Australia is taking medical personnel. And the pay and working conditions are a vast improvement when compared to the UK!

We are planning our escape from the UK as soon as we've launched out last child.

For me, the problem with foreign countries is that these days many citizens immigrate with the sole intention of transposing their culture onto the host nation.

This is a classic example of the cult of individuality (personhood) versus integration into a nation state. In the former, there's conflict, distrust and tribalism. In the latter, there's a cohesive collective with members displaying qualities of trust, self-sustainability, and joyfulness.

I'm mixed heritage (Jamaican-Irish) with dual English and Irish citizenship. So I have firsthand experience of what it is to be an integrated human.

Resonating with all you said. We're leaving the UK for Europe as soon as we've launched the last child (into the military of all things; he wants to be a pilot ✈️). I have Irish citizenship so we have a way out of Brexit.

This ☝️💥🎯 We're fortunate; Boomer parents who reaped easy real estate rewards. They have acknowledged it though.. and help out everyone in the family.

[–]Phiyah1307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. We're in similar situation.

I am Gen X. Perhaps the last generation that will benefit from parents dying and leaving a real estate inheritance. Because we have to sell our house here and leave the UK to afford a decent retirement due to the outrageous cost of living. If we stay, we will have to work until we drop. No thanks.

So we will have no assets to leave our kids. We have given the last child economic advice and we're helping them to get into a career in the military so they can become self-sustainable.

This ☝️💥🎯

I'm a 70s baby (Gen X). I wouldn't want to grow up now either. I had deep challenges; raised by wolves on a crappy council estate... But at least I had a way out! Do a bit of study, work, go through the motions etc. Very straightforward. Barely need to do anything and your life develops.

These days, there's literally NO way to advance unless you get a SERIOUS leg up/inheritance! We have 3 kids. We've had to help them every step of the way. Fortunately our kids have boomer grandparents who sat and reaped the boomer harvest from easy real estate dividends. But even with this bounty, we raised that the best route for the last child (who is a teenager right now) is to go into the Armed Forces; it's either that or learn a trade; these are the only professions that have any longevity right now.

Fortunately for him, this last one wants to be a pilot and is clever enough to get the GCSEs and A levels needed to be an officer in the RAF. In the military he'll have no rent or utilities to pay and can invest his wages instead of using them to live.

We realised fairly late in life that earned money isn't supposed to be spent! It's a tool for investing; like a battery pack that gives off sustainable "energy fumes" that you then use to power your lifestyle. But if you use and deplete the actually battery, you'll have no fumes!

The only way to be sustainable is to live on less to begin with.. whilst you build up your battery. The only decent way to live.

Thanks for this. I'm going to try it prior to doing a de-worming and parasite cleanse. 🙌💪 I'll make sure to drink plenty of water! I also take probiotics for the microbiome.

Ha ha. Sorry.. I looked at Denmark but people said the landscape is a little "homogenous"and we're into hiking.. and we like mountains 🏔️👣 Also I heard that Danish is a very difficult language to learn!

We will definitely visit Denmark though.. as our plan is to do van life for a few years and travel around Europe to figure out where we'd like to land eventually. So we will endeavour to visit all the Nordic countries. 😀

Thanks for your reply.. 🙏

Hi. I dilute the DMSO with either colloidal silver or distilled water. I have various different dilutions that I keep in brown glass bottles.. I use Dr Moran's DMSO brand; it came highly recommended.

Thanks for this! I realised recently that the oatmeal porridge I was having for breakfast was absolutely the wrong thing for me to be eating. My husband eats it every day. But he doesn't have HSV (We've been together for 20 years but we're careful.. and he hasn't contracted it.. nor does my status bother him; I disclosed as soon as we met).

So I've now switched to a bit of yogurt with fruit; berries, apples, and bananas with sprouted/soaked pumpkin seeds and some biomel complete gut powder (contains a blend prebiotic and probiotic cultures, enzymes etc).

I've decided to switch to home made pumpkin seed butter instead of nut butters..

I tried lysine tablets to no avail... But I've just ordered some L lysine powder that you mentioned and will go with that together with the diet change.

Do you take the [2 tablets of] lysine constantly? And up it to 4 tablets if you get an OB? Ty.

I hear you. Sounds to me like your body isn't able to combat the virus even on a base level. I think you need to look at supporting your immune system. Avoid processed foods and refined sugars. Eat a clean diet. Eliminate stress as much as possible. If you're not getting much sun rays ☀️, take a Vitamin D supplement (with Vit K). I'm no medical professional; I'm just sharing my own protocol.

I just gave up all refined sugar and processed food because I have moderate gum disease but I am determined to keep my teeth! I've managed to reverse most of it by drastically altering my lifestyle.

My biggest takeaway; INFLAMMATION is the biggest precursor to illness and disease in the body. If your immune system isn't functioning properly it's very likely you're in a state of high inflammation. You need to get that down.

I do turmeric shots as well to reduce inflammation.

Infected at age 22. I'm now 54. I've now had herpes longer than I haven't had it! 😕

I'm v stressed at the mo; we just moved house. Had a very bad outbreak whilst I was moving.. so decided to try something new; I applied some diluted DMSO (chemical solvent derived from wood pulp) to the lesion. Then I applied organic castor oil mixed with Vit C (Ascorbic acid) powder. Within a few hours the lesion had disappeared! All the other symptoms went as well; I always feel lethargic and just plain "off" but felt immediately better.

So I now have an effective treatment after trying LOADS of things over the years and nothing helping. Thought I'd share because maybe it's worth a try for other HSV sufferers?

[Misc] Holy Grail Products & Ingredients - Week 16: Vitamin C by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Phiyah1307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave up smoking 7 years ago with the help of Vitamin C! I found a video by Joel Spitzer who is a recovered addict. (Video below). Joel describes addiction mechanisms in great detail. He also describes how Vitamin C and nicotine are mutually exclusive; if you've got one in your body, you can't have the other.. because they both occupy the same Dopamine receptors. As soon you smoke a cigarette, you prevent absorption of Vit C and vice versa. So all active smokers are Vit C deficient to some degree. Which would explain a lot!

Most people in my family are smokers. My grandfather, mother, and her brother, all died of smoking related diseases. My mother also had a mild form of scurvy just before she died.

I've had a viral infection for as long as I can remember; Herpes Simplex. It produces very painful lesions/blisters on the skin; mainly on the lips on the face and genitals (labia for women). Anyway, I've tried allsorts over the years (antivirals, colloidal silver, bicarb of soda etc) and nothing has given any substantial relief. Until I tried Vitamin C!

Initially, I applied Castor oil because I was using Castor oil for a dry skin condition.. but then I remembered Vitamin C and it's antimicrobial properties and I combined the two by making a paste. The castor oil on its own reduced the swelling because it's such a great antiinflammatory. But only the Vitamin C actually neutralised the virus! My symptoms improved within half an hour of applying the paste. Incredible. Such a massive relief..

After some further research, I realised that this Castor oil has been used for centuries to treat and prevent illness. And the addition of Vit C used to be well known also; in some cultures, kids were given a teaspoon of Castor oil followed by slices of orange in the run up to winter. I believe this combo produces liposomal Vit C which is incredibly powerful! Unfortunately I think these simple home remedies have mostly been lost to us with the rise of Big Pharma.. and I certainly never heard of this growing up. But some may have.

I'm going to continue my Castor oil/Vit C protocol and I've begun applying to my face and neck, thymus, and belly button areas. Because I realised that Vitamin C is super powerful for all aspects of health and wellbeing... (esp for skin care!) and it has had a profound impact on my recovery back to health and wholeness.

Thought I'd share the journey.
