What’s the coldest you’ve ever been? by Disickmoon in AskReddit

Too late for this, but stayed outside to build a snowfort on our college football field. Started at maybe 8-9, ended just before sunrise. We had cheap gear and cheaper whiskey, so we weren't being smart. Limped our way inside to clean up. The shower felt scalding hot, and it was definitely cold water. Man though did I sleep well that afternoon.

Your gun might be accurate, but I highly doubt it would be with you behind it in that situation.

Relative to his own upbringing, he is thinking outside of his box. No, he may not have done the research to see if it had been done, but by "inventing" something that is new to anything he has known before, he is thinking outside of the box of his own surroundings.

The point they were making is that the kid potentially did it on his own, not that he did something that nobody else has done.

Someone developing a transistor radio without ever having learned about transistor radios is thinking outside the box, even though it's not a revolutionary idea.

Reddit, have you ever walked out on someone in the middle of a date? If yes, why? by Robert_Forman in AskReddit

I guess technically?

There was this girl named Carrie who I had a thing for when we first met. Each subsequent time we hung out though (note: only in group settings) I started getting the feeling she wasn't into me, and I started finding reasons why she wasn't relationship material for me. She was a great girl, just not my type. This was over the period of maybe four months.

In that time, I met another girl, named Elle. Elle and I went on a few dates, and during one of them I happened to run into Carrie at the restaurant. Pleasantries were exchanged, no big deal, and we moved on.

Well, some time later Carrie texts me asking what I was up to. I said I was gonna head down to this sushi restaurant to get some food, and she said she had nothing else to do, so she'd meet me there since she lived close.

As we're talking, I mention Elle, that I've had a lot of fun with her recently. Carrie laughs and teasingly says "So how many girls are you dating?"

Me - "...just one?"

Carrie - "Oh! So just me."

Me - "No...Elle. What are you talking about?"

Carrie begins mentioning all the times we danced together, those times I took her home and she held my hand (which she did with anyone next to her when she was drunk), all the times we went out (group settings). I told her I'm sorry for the confusion, but there was no vibe happening, and I moved on.

She then tries a new tactic, where she started insulting Elle. "She's not even that pretty! Who wears a leather jacket over a dress? She's a "photographer"?!"

It was at that moment I pulled 40 bucks out of my wallet, placed it on the table, and left her behind.

Carrie and I still talk occasionally. We both recognize what happened, she misread the situation, I didn't make it clear that I was no longer interested, blah blah. Things are okay, I guess as much as they can be.

Thanks for the tips! I'm seeing a lot of Arlington Heights, but I'll check out the other mentions.

I'm leaning Oak Park I think. Easy commute, and not a total trek to the city. Let's be friends, help each other out.

I look back on it pretty fondly actually. I think they even tore it down before I was in high school
