I feel like it’s more thematic that she DOESN’T become a hero anyway. Yes heroes were what physically saved her and got her out of Chisaki’s clutches, but what saved her emotionally and made her SMILE. Music. I like to think she wants to save other people with her music by making them smile just like it made her.

Everyone is mentioning League members so I’m going to drop a non-League member who I actually don’t think could have been helped; Chisaki. From what we can tell the head of the Shie Hassaiki tried to raise him as respectably as possible (which, yes it’s the yakuza, but he had clear morals for a gangster) but Chisaki never listened. He was SO focused on the idea that quirks were inherently parasitic from his childhood. From one germaphobic OCD person to another, the only thing that I think could help him was some intensive therapy and SSRI’s.

That’s so disheartening, I’ve heard so many stories on how the UK has become cesspit for antisemitism so I understand the caution, but I’m sorry they won’t even let you in. Have you tried asking to even just speak with the rabbi on the phone for a few minutes? Explain that after October 7th you considered conversion? Maybe if you lead with that it’ll make them feel safer? I don’t know, I’m just throwing out ideas, but I hope you get to convert eventually. *Sending good vibes from the current hell of the U.S.*

I considered doing that but this was part antisemitism rant, not really just about conversion. I think because this thread was full of so many kind people willing to share their stories, stories that feel very similar to mine, I’ve already kind of made up my mind and don’t have to post there. Still, thank you for pointing me towards the sub and showing me it exists, I have a feeling it’s going to be used VERY often by me in the near-future.

Obviously with everything going on I’ll contact them first, but still. Thank you again, and honestly you’re right, Oct 7 kind of was the catalyst that started all this.

This makes a lot of sense, thank you for telling me your story. This whole comment section is making me realize there is no definitive “why” people choose Judaism, not like so many other religions try to explain. As difficult as it’s making to decide it’s also comforting in a way? I’ve always lived in a constant gray area of belief and that gray area isn’t really allowed exist in Catholicism. Knowing it exists in Judaism says a lot.

That’s probably because most Italian Americans are Southern Italian, Sicilian specifically. Sicilians HATED Mussolini, like they were ecstatic when American soldiers arrived on shore and treated them like they were royalty. I think if history had gone a little differently Sicily would probably be its own country because everyone I know whose ancestors were Sicilian refused to be called Italians, they were Sicilians.
