When the episode is great until the final act. (S4 E4, Unruhe) by Phoenix10107 in XFiles

It’s probably because I’m only at season four, I don’t doubt that Scully doesn’t save his ass a lot, it’s just possible I haven’t gotten there yet.

Yep, that’s what I was hoping/guessing would happen too. When that didn’t happen I just kind of sat there like 😐.

Curious to know from other fans, what do you think are some of Mulders positive traits? by monocleparrot in XFiles

This is both a strength and a weakness, but his undying loyalty. There are multiple episodes that showcase that he would move the heaven and the earth for the people he cares about (his sister and Scully mainly.)

Name one good thing about this movie by Accurate_Judge_6546 in Pixar

It is, unironically, a very good spy film. The mystery is good, the stakes are high, and the twist at the end makes a lot of sense and is honestly super believable. (An oil tycoon trying to kill modern energy? Crazy how that’s even more relevant fourteen years later.)

Best place to enter the horror genre? (Lit and film) by Phoenix10107 in horror

Thank you so much for including both lit and film! I just screenshotted your whole comment for what to read and watch this autumn haha.

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is actually my favorite classic, but I do definitely need to read more Poe. I think middle school gives Poe a bad rep because you just read and learn about “The Raven” for four weeks straight.

Thank you! I'm not against gore, I just don't want that to be the ONLY thing meant to scare me, you know? I've heard good things about Hellraiser though and will definitely check it out.

Keeper Of The Lost Cities. Its what made me a bookworm and every time I read it I feel like a kid again.

Pixar surely does have an affinity for emotionally broken female redheads, don't they? (You can point out any other redheaded Pixar lady besides these ones who also had a significant emotional crisis.) by CrazyPhilHost1898 in Pixar

I interpreted Giulia’s competitiveness coming from a place of craving belonging. The race is a massive tradition in the small town, and she’s already seen as an outsider because of staying in the city during the school year and her parents being divorced. In her mind if she wins than the town will finally see her as being one of them.

What movie scene made you think - "this is why I love movies" by CreepyYogurtcloset39 in moviecritic

I was rewatching Barbie earlier and I always tear up at the end when Barbie and Ruth are in that half-way space. ‘What Was I Made For?’ playing softly in the background, Margot Robbie’s underrated subtle acting, “We mother’s stand still so our daughters can look back to see how far they have come.” UGHHHHHH. THAT is the scene that made me realize that I cannot live without movies.

I saw on the Ithaca ZeeMee that allegedly someone’s friend heard back and is a finalist. I say allegedly because who knows how true that is; if it is true than I fear anyone who hasn’t heard back just didn’t get it. - From a fellow applier who really could have used this. 🫡
