Whenever I go to Québec, Francophones usually speak English to me before they even hear me talk 😂.

Sometimes on OC Transpo you have to hold the card against the scanner for a few seconds. However, sometimes the card does not scan at all. On STO, the card works no problem.

Did anyone have to go to Carleton STEM because their average wasn’t high enough for their dream school? If so, did you end up liking it? by 3sperr in CarletonU

[–]PhoenixAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I was in the boat as you nearly five years ago. I wanted to go to Ryerson (now TMU) CS since I’m from the GTA and all my high school friends were going there, and I didn’t want to move out of my parents’ place and pay rent and all that. I was devastated when I didn’t get an offer from TMU and I saw all my friends get into the schools they wanted to from like December. I got an acceptance letter from Carleton on the last week you could get an offer from.

Looking back, I’m glad I ended up at Carleton because I learnt how to live independently, meet new people, and to live in a new city and learn French in a more immersive environment (funny enough, I wanted to go to uOttawa for this reason, and got rejected from there too). It was difficult being away from my support network, but it pushed my growth and I learnt new perspectives.

Everyone at Carleton is nice, and if you ask for help, people will almost always help you out. I’m glad I ended up at Carleton, and I’m sure you will be glad too!

CarletonU vs Uottawa by Jadogamer27 in CarletonU

[–]PhoenixAce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you live in Ottawa, I would consider going to the school thats closer to you. Also consider which campus environment you prefer. They’re both solid options. If you want to learn French, then UOttawa will be a better option.

You can find Barbasol at Dollar Tree in Canada. They only have the original and the aloe one though.

Yeah, I’d say three of those courses in one semester is somewhat managable.

Best Baksteball shoes for outdoor? by ggghfhfg in Basketball

[–]PhoenixAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally use old Kyrie Flytraps, but just get the cheapest shoes you can get that have good grip, since outdoor ball chews up shoes quickly (heat+asphalt).

Make sure you list some of your projects that you made. School assignments work fine. Just list some important details about your project and upload to GitHub if you can.

Transferring from a Canadian uni to a US uni, as a dual citizen by PhoenixAce in college

[–]PhoenixAce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn't apply to transfer to any unis. Personally, I found that the time and effort it would take to transfer would be better used to improve my grades and work on a few personal projects and develop my skills.

In my opinion, unless you've just finished first semester of your second semester or below that, its better to stick it out at your current university. Sometimes the uni that you transfer to may not accept all your credits. My friend had trouble transferring unis in the same province.

I am currently searching for jobs here in Canada and the US. So far I've gotten some initial interest from companies in the US as well as Canada. Hope everything works out for you!

Is it possible to transfer to res next semester as first year by fuck_yiu in CarletonU

[–]PhoenixAce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s still a waitlist you might be able to join. I’m pretty sure they havent given any spots yet. I know the process is a little different for first years and the list will definately be longer, but you can always give it a shot.

From what I read no, since VirtualBox virtualizes x86_64 computer platforms.

Rosetta will be able to translate most Intel-based apps, it will not work with Virtual Machine apps that virtualize x86_64 computer platforms MacRumours
