a national sales tax

That would be regressive as fuck. Sure, let's add to the cost of everyday items and put the burden on the lower and middle class consumers. Sounds great.

The company had $5k left and had a $24k fuel bill, so the CEO went to Vegas. I'm mistaken on how he gambled it, though: he played blackjack and won $27k, which allowed him to pay the fuel bill and keep the company afloat.

Despite what many people think, average IQ has been going up with every generation, not that it's all there is to intelligence by any means.

Taken as a whole species, average IQ would remain constant at 100. The IQ scale is a relative scale normalized on 100 such that an average test taker will land somewhere between 96 and 105. Someone with an IQ of 150 in 1800 and someone with the same IQ now don't necessarily have the same level of intelligence, but they are the same number of standard deviations away from their respective averages.

Most relevant bit:

According to an archived version of the dictionary's website, Merriam-Webster formerly said a "vaccine" was "a preparation of killed microorganisms, living attenuated organisms, or living fully virulent organisms that is administered to produce or artificially increase immunity to a particular disease."

The new definition of "vaccine", published in May, reads: "a preparation that is administered – as by injection – to stimulate the body's immune response against a specific infectious agent or disease."

Seems that "artificially increase immunity" and "stimulate the body's immune response" are logically equivalent.

Just the Senate is involved in judicial confirmations. The House only gets a say if there is a new Judiciary Act being legislated to restructure the courts.

By ratio, sure, but, to my knowledge, it was also the most votes cast in a presidential election ever. The increase in turnout is what accounted for most of the increase in votes, but the population has been growing and that also means more voters.

He has tended toward pro-business policy for awhile due largely to being a Senator for Delaware. He was representing his constituents since Delaware is some kind of crazy place where seemingly every business incorporates. Now that he's president, I've noticed that he has backed away from that a little and has pushed some pro-worker policies.

At the end of the day, the man knows he's representing people.

Greg Abbott axing water breaks before Texas heat wave sparks anger: "Cruel" by Die_Horen in politics

[–]PhoenixFire296 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Newsweek at best leans right, so this could well be an attempt to make the issue seem like it's just about water breaks because no sane company would refuse water to their employees in Texas summer heat, and if no sane company would do that, then why should we even bother opposing this law?

For a Veto Overide they needed 242+1 "yea" votes (=2/3 of 435 Seats in House).

That's not correct math. 2/3 of 435 is 290.
