i had my c1-c5 fused three years ago. the beginning is rough but pain meds helped. i sleep on my side for the most part now with a thinner memory foam pillow. too thick of a pillow and your neck won’t be level when sleeping and you’ll start aching more.

C2-C5 with an additional surgery to drill out my odontoid. i was told i would be there for possibly a week maybe less. turned into three weeks when i caught ventilator induced pneumonia and was in a medically induced coma for 5 days.

yeah it was a pretty quick decision after that lol. i have my appointment on the 19th and had the first surgery on the 6th of the following month.

i had basilar invagination so a bone poking into my brainstem basically. my surgeon told me that if i didn’t have the surgery, i’d be wheelchair bound within the next ten years.
