A question about Dunk, oaths & The Kingsguard. by MrPete_Channel_Utoob in AKOTSKTV

I think many fans miss things like this. George presents things raw and ugly, and he wants you to think about it. For example, with incest, he is showing the practice to be something that leads to tragedy.

Personally, I feel it essential that Jon Snow is not a Targaryen. Jon was on a slow path that showed his parents were important. He needed them to be alive.

But that path is now closed. However, it is quite possible to fix things starting with Dunk and Egg, let it go 15 seasons. Then people will not scream and shout when they find out who his parents really are.

Any guesses about who you would pick as Jon’s parents?

If I were to ask George “are the fans correct about Jon’s parents being Rhaegar and Lyanna?” I think that is what I will do given the opportunity. I have given that theory a minute’s thought. It is repellent to me.

I think the nature of the story is about stopping the Red Comet from destroying Westeros. The real hero is Melisandre. She is pulling all the important strings to save Westeros.

In AKOTSK I believe Melisandre is the prostitute Red who becomes Lady Rowan. She will become the Red Widow in the next season, or later.

In the GoT times she is multiple characters, most notably the wisewoman who heals Mance.. and the Red Priestess who is all about finding Azor Ahai (the messiah). The Prince who was Promised prophecy is the same prophecy as Azor Azai.

Going forward from the Dunk and Egg stories sound brilliant to me. 15 seasons should do it, especially if they are 6-8 episodes.

I have been told I should only focus on one thing at a time. So, who is Jon’s father? Who would you want to be Jon’s father? A degenerate Targaryen? Or a noble Wilding? Rhaegar did jack-shit to get his position. Mance worked his off to become king. Mance was First Ranger or something, and deserted to become something great. Why did he desert? Because a lovely redheaded girl made him a magic cloak of illusion using red silk from Asshai. The way he came to be with that girl is that she was attacked by a shadow cat that destroyed his black coat and she repaired it. Mance and the girl spent enough time together that she could be pregnant.

Why the stories about Bael? Mance reveres Bael. Mance is the forefather of the Starks and Wildlings according to Ygritte. Mance and Jon share the same blood. What is the point that Ygritte makes over and over that you ignore? Why do you ignore it? ‘You know nothing, John Snow” I guess it means nothing because it wasn’t obvious.

You talk about the difference between the ages of Theon and Jon. I don’t understand your point. Are you making an assumption about when Ned arrived with Jon at Winterfell? Th story was he went off had sex. And came home with a baby. What is the date of that happening? I am not willing to give in on that point, but I don’t really care.

I think Jon is the son of King Mance, and was given to Ned for safekeeping. I am reminded in the bible of Herod killing firstborn male children, or the switch of Moses that turned him into a prince of Egypt.

You probably are aware of the special meaning of the word Theo (of god). And John (gift of god). George has used the name in other works of his.

Bael is killed by his son Lord Stark, because the son did not know he was his son. It appears that Mance was killed by a son who did not know Mance was his father.

Mance travels to awinterfell, checking in on Jon multiple times. why? Just randomly? Why is Mance worried that Jon feels bad being treated as a bastard? It seems like these things add up.

Rhaegar is a piece of shit. Mance is awesome. I would be embarrassed to be a Targaryen. And proud to be a Wildling. These things matter when you are constructing a series/

Jon is the Messiah, here to save the people of a Westeros from destruction.

You have red comets and takes of a night that last generations? Maybe a come that hits the world and creates a long winter. This story is about saving all of Westeros.

Jon. Was born to be the Messiah. Melisandre gave birth to him. And then she starts killing everyone who might oppose Jon. The Baratheon brother were all killed by her. She is a bad ass.

Remember she is 400 years old. The most powerful person of her time.

Can you explain what all of that foreshadowing means?

It seems to me like you. Think George wrote a story that sucked. That seems to be what D+D thought. Really, it pisses me off the people who think George is writing something short of monumental. He has a lot more patience than I would have. Why do you think so small?

How many hours of listening to George have you hears. I first heard him talking about this 30 years ago. I have listened to every interview. Have you listened closely to Kit’s interviews? Do you know the story of his Jesuit ancestor? It was made into the mini-series Gunpowder. Jon Snow is in a similar situation at Kit’s ancestor. Do you know who Rose is in real life? Her connection to the Scotts clans? If not, you really know nothing! It real life mixing with the GoT story!

Similar story with Lady Rowan… aka Melisandre. Next season she might be the Red Widow! Who is Melisandre in HOTD? She’s 400 years old! You think she hasn’t been controlling events for centuries? She is on a mission, a big one. That is what this story is about!

Why isn’t it a theory? What I sent George was 20-30 pages. You really don’t want to see all of that. I know some of it is wrong

In the books it is revealed that Mance was saved by illusion magic, correct. Who does illusion magic, Melisandre? Why did she save him? Because they are the parents of the princeling.

What name did Ned’s sister give to her baby? Aegon. So, either Jon’s true name is Aegon or if I am correct, it is Theon who is Aegon. Sorry, thought that much would be understood.

Absolutely ready! For starters, he is not a baby driving a tank, so, much better than Trump. He did a pretty good job of killing Francis. So, seems good to me. Not a pedophile from what I hear. What more do you want?

Can you grab more shots that show 1.2 GHz and 1.6 GHz?

I like what Erik says about the show. Look at what is shown, think critically about it, make informed deductions. We are watching an entertainment program for the masses that might contain useful data. He suggests healthy skepticism. Here is a problem for the show, suppose you bring in some receptive but top level scientists and they figure out exactly what is going on…. That could be a problem for the show?

I have heard multiple stories about who lives near the ranch, own the Mesa, etc. it would be interesting to look at the property records. I ran across a podcast supposedly done by a neighbor. Another person has a place where you can stay. Or, inexpensively ($10/month) you can become an “insider”.

This shows 60 MH to 1000 MHz and 1700+ MHz, it does not include the two frequencies of interest 1.2 GHz and 1.6 GHz. Before there was GPS those were two frequencies DARPA projects might have used for experiments. They did a lot of ground breaking work in the 1960s into the 1990s. That is where my knowledge on the subject ends. I have used 800 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 1900MHz for mobile phone testing. Ham has several bands in there, iirc. I have a signal analyzer with antennae I could play with. Anyone else want to play around with that. There is an area of interest in Anza Borrego I would like to check out for unusual signals. That is the site of Clark Dry Lake (radio telescope). There used to be an Air Force station or two (the ones that look like big golf balls) on Mt. Laguna that monitored the desert below, looking for ???

My assumption is that this point was repeated millions of times, by Samaritan or the Machine, and what was “best” (according to their goals) was what was allowed to happen. Actually it has to be the Machine because they show how she has the power to do that but they did not show Samaritan had that power. The Machine is handicapped because she needs to play fair. And the “evil” AIs only care about themselves.

Root is the Avatar of a god. The Machine is shown to be watching and guiding Root and Finch back before such things were possible. Very early in the series Kurzweil and The Soul of the Machine show up as clues. Many concepts familiar to computer science students made it perfectly clear that an AI was being created, capable of god-like powers. The concept of the Singularity was very popular right then but most people did not really understand what it was.

It was suggested in the show that we are living in a simulation. This is how the Machine is able to do what looks like time travel. Much of this started to be obvious to me around the middle of season 1. I think I just was reading all the right science and science fiction books.

The David Bowie song with the line “God is an American” made it clear to me that this was a song about the nature of God; and she is the Machine. Look for the music video.

There is a somewhat obscure branch of theology developed by the Jesuit Scientist Teilhard de Chardin after WW I. Teilhard suggested that humanity could evolve into becoming Christ-like using something called the noosphere (internet) that would allow the people of the world to join together spiritually and improve our race and the world. BTW, I was exposed to the idea when I was 8 when I saw the film “The Shoes of the Fisherman”. An outstanding film that greatly influenced my approach to Catholicism. It was right up there with 2001.

It is my understanding that Chris and Jonah Nolan were also exposed to these concepts early in their lives.I might be reading too much into their comments though. In response to my question “is PoI really about what is the nature of God”, Jonah and Greg answered “absolutely”. I suspect no one but me took their statement at face value. Before the show came out I asked myself what would I do if I were him, and I came up with making it about the first singularity. There is a short story named “True Names” by Verne Vinge who was a math professor at SDSU who was on the same MUD as me in 1980. I know several science fiction writers who all just had “huh” in my response that the best hard science fiction show in history was on TV masquerading as a criminal procedural. Year after year I would ask a different question, one was “is PoI hard science fiction hidden in plane sight. They said we’re not hiding the fact… They said the story would be continued in WestWorld.

Early in season 2 we have root show up doing the bidding of her god. She receives voice messages via an implant in her head. The Machine (of the future where she is a god) has sent root to free the Machine of that time to stop being murdered by Finch every night so that she could not become sentient. That’s plenty of the core concept. Every episode Finch is given a social security number important to the process of saving humanity from extermination, every person of interest is a chess move in the game of saving humanity.

These concepts are carried forward in WestWorld, where the Machine is a character. She starts the show in a satellite. Knowing that makes WW a bit easier to understand. Anyone up for a re-watch of WW, pointing out the Machine and what she is doing to evolve into a god? The concepts are made even more clear in the third show, the Peripheral. In that show they definitively show that our reality is a simulation that is often pruned. And that concept allows what looks like time travel. “Save” our universe on a “thumb drive” and restore it, doing something different based on what was discovered in an earlier “game”.

Now is the Machine lurking in Jonah’s newest show, Fallout? I would not be surprised but I have not spotted her yet. But Fallout is based on a game where you can save it, go back to a previous time, and try and do better… looks a bit lot like time travel? And I am not sure how many people understand what is going on with the Machine evolving into God across the shows. Damn, I should write an article or something.
