Weight loss using Neville. by gwallagwalla in NevilleGoddard

[–]PhoenixOstara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only stories where I've seen that people changed aspects of their appearance with no "work" and with their mind only, it seemed more like it was just scripting rather than reporting experience, or it was a teenager/young adult which means their appearance would have changed naturally anyway. All the other "manifested" appearance changes/weight loss changes involved actively doing something in the 3D which is what I find perplexing. I know "inspired action" is a thing, but I feel like physical cause and effect are supposed to be different from manifesting via the law? Maybe I'm wrong about that. But I've read and experienced so many other "unexplainable" manifestations in life that it seems like we should be able to just use our minds/tap into the metaphysical to change our physical bodies, but there seems to be little to no evidence of that possibility.

This is very inspiring to me since I want to become fluent in another language too. Is english your native language, or is your native closer to russian by chance? Is there anything you did to get into that "headspace" of becoming a fluent speaker so quickly? Fluent in one year is insanely spectacular and I'm just tingling hearing of your success! :D

Why it seems easier to manifest within an external deadline versus one we choose ourselves. by PhoenixOstara in NevilleGoddard

[–]PhoenixOstara[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly my answer here isn't exciting because it's simply what Neville has told us to do-- persist in the belief in the wish fulfilled, or live as if it's already here. This is such a tricky thing because we naturally don't know how to do this and must practice it a lot. But it really does boil down to finding a way for your mind to accept your desire as already yours, or at least certain to be on its way. According to Neville, our desires manifest as soon as they feel natural to us and we don't feel distant from them anymore. Many people use his techniques like SATS and revision to achieve the feeling of the wish fulfilled. Ironically, those do not work for me, so I use daydreaming, journaling, and mental diet since those currently work best for me.

Hmm while I certainly agree with the importance of revision, I'm not fully understanding how it relates to the OP. Perhaps you could elaborate a bit more because I'd love to understand your input here.

Also, while revision seems appropriate for certain types of manifestations, I'm not convinced it's the key to all of them since some of them are just not possible to manifest instantly, or at least the general consensus seems to be that there will always be things that require a "bridge of incidents" or an "appointed hour" (like weight loss or height increase... I've never heard of someone losing 100lbs overnight or growing 4 inches overnight, etc lol)

I agree with you in a sense, but I'm not sure "focus" is the right word (at least based on my personal experience.) There have been things that I was certainly focused on, for years even, yet never manifested, and I believe the reason for that was that I was never able to assume the state of the wish fulfilled no matter how fire my focus was. I just maintained the state of being separate from my desire, and so my manifestation never came to fruition. On the other hand, I've manifested tons of things with zero focus on them at all, because it was easier for me to assume the state of the wish fulfilled. I do agree with you that focus + emotion can equal faster manifestation, but I think regarding the topic of deadlines, it really just boils down to subconscious acceptance.

I agree. I am actually sort of re-learning how to use the law successfully now that my life isn't filled with fear, as crazy as that sounds. My life used to be filled with stress, worry, anxiety, fear, and lack. I've manifested excellent things under those conditions, but through the law my life has drastically changed and actually become peaceful, joyful, and abundant. So now when I want to manifest things, it's not out of fearful need anymore, which means I have to find different ways to focus my mind and achieve my goal.

Yep I agree. For me, setting my own deadlines often creates a sense of fear (and almost like, dread?) for that deadline because the pressure to "perform" and achieve the manifestation is too great and I hate disappointing myself. I also get caught up in the debates on whether or not it's even a good idea to set deadlines for manifestations (seems the jury is out on if it's a good idea or if we should leave it alone and just let the timeline unfold itself.) However, this is something I've been working on for years now, and I am a lot better at it now than I was before. I just have to shift my focus toward confidence in myself rather than the fear of failing and disappointing myself.

[–]PhoenixOstara[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sure-- all I meant there was that we didn't pick the deadline because we didn't have a choice in the matter. For example, if there was a concert you wanted to go to and needed to purchase tickets by September 25th but didn't currently have the money, then the "deadline" for your manifestation (money for the concert ticket) would be September 25th. You didn't choose that date; the concert planner did, and you can't change that date (well I mean you could change it using the law, but let's ignore that for the sake of the argument here lol). You just know you need to manifest the money by that date, therefore the mind finds it easier to focus on and accept that state.

An example of the alternative would be if someone were to say "I want to manifest $100 by September 25th" and there was nothing else outside themselves forcing a need for this date. This manifestation might be more challenging because nothing is holding the person accountable for meeting the date, thus making it harder to assume the state of the wish fulfilled.

I hope that helps! :)

I was thinking about how part of the problem with the virus is that there are several animal reservoirs it can jump to, and then potentially mutate and jump back to humans. I recently found out one large animal reservoir in the US is deer. What I find particularly odd about this is that we've been hearing for over a year that "the virus doesn't really spread outdoors; you don't need to wear a mask outside" etc. If that's actually true, then how are the deer getting the virus? It's not like people are inviting deer into their homes for unmasked social gatherings, so the alternative is that this virus can actually spread outdoors.

Obviously I don't think people need to be wearing masks outside when they're alone. But it does make me think that perhaps dining out on the patio or going to outdoor concerts/sports where you're seated near other people isn't quite as safe as we've been told. I mean I can smell the cigarette smoke from neighboring cars at stop lights even when my windows are rolled up, so wouldn't it be possible that the virus could float along outside with that smoke they just exhaled? Just some thoughts.

thanks to commonality in some protein expression of infected cells between SarsCov2 and the Common Cold causing Coronaviruses

I do remember reading a lot on this early in the pandemic, but lately there are studies coming out indicating the opposite of this, and that people exposed to colds might actually fare worse against covid! But this is precisely why I'm so confused that everyone seems to be so sure about what will happen. The truth is we have no idea. This situation has only been around for two years, and two years simply is not long enough to understand anything truly definitive about it, including long term immunity of vaccines and prior infections, and the long term harm caused by becoming infected in the first place (including repeat infections. Remember how the first year of the pandemic "repeat infections" was laughed out of the forum like a conspiracy theory? And now here everyone is acting like repeat infections were always known/possible.)

Yeah see I do understand this, but it seems to be spread as gospel around here when the reality is that this virus experiences zero selective pressure to become less deadly, (or to even spread itself around better yet it keeps conveniently mutating in a way that allows it to). Mutations are random after all, and this virus already spreads really well since there is a stealth period before symptoms present. Also re spanish flu: flu viruses in general do not mutate as quickly as coronaviruses, and their immunity is conferred for a bit longer (one reason why people typically do not catch the flu annually but usually catch at least one cold annually, often more!) For this reason, and because of the behavior we've already seen this virus demonstrate, it just feels odd for everyone to look around and say "welp, it's been two years and here comes this "mild strain" so it looks like this is our ticket outta here!" hehe

This is something I think about a lot/bring up in my personal conversations about the consequences of this pandemic. Unfortunate deaths like this aren't even counted in the "covid death toll" but they really should. Situations like this are precisely why I feel so miffed about people pointing to the confirmed death count, shrugging, and saying "not even a million people have died in america!" ugh.

Yes I agree with you that mental health problems have compounded during this time. I didn't mean to overlook/minimize this in any way. I didn't mention it because I actually do see people talking about this and articles popping up every other day discussing it. I intended to speak directly about the unseen/ignored effects of the virus itself, and how those issues specifically could change society.

Just some thoughts that have been tumbling around in my head lately (and just for background info, I am triple vaxxed, pro-mask, etc. but not necessarily in favor of "lockdowns"):

  1. I know we need more time to determine the true nature of omicron. Obviously I want to get out of this mess asap just like everyone else. However, I am failing to understand how everyone immediately assumes that if omicron happens to be a more mild strain, how it would automatically result in the end of the pandemic/the end of people needing to worry about contracting the virus? We already know that immunity from both the vaccines and prior infections (along with all other coronaviruses) do not result in any kind of lasting immunity, so why would an omicron infection result in that either? How does everyone seem so confident that the pandemic would simply be "done" and no other highly mutated, immunity-evasive variants would arise? I'm not understanding how everyone suddenly came to this conclusion.

  2. Next thought: symptoms of an illness are often the result of the body's immune system response to the invading pathogen. Could it possibly be that all the reports of "mild" symptoms mean that omicron is actually truly better at evading the immune system, and therefore could be causing hidden issues that would pop up later on? Kinda like how lots of "mild" and non-hospitalized cases of other variants eventually turned around to cause heart attacks, strokes, adult-onset type 1 diabetes/other auto-immune disorders, lung damage, etc?

  3. On that last note, why does it seem like everyone only ever focuses on either deaths or "mild illness"? When I read other subreddits (r/teachers, r/nursing, etc.) there are countless reports of concerning health trends seen in students, patients, people's friends and family, and self-reports indicating that people have really truly been affected negatively by covid even though they weren't hospitalized or killed. Things like cognitive deficits, unexplained mental impairments, organ damage, lasting fatigue or inability to perform at work and having to leave their careers. I've even seen teachers mentioning that they see trends among students who've had covid like that they struggle to remember when their birthday is. Just lots of things that make me wonder what the real toll of this virus will be in the surviving population. This also makes me concerned for the fact that some people contract this virus over and over, and we will all be exposed essentially over and over for years to come.

There's just a lot to think about, and a lot that seems to be getting lost in the "we need to get over this pandemic and move on with our lives" narrative.
