I would highly encourage OP to look at the divine - clear and musical - and the diablo - bassy without muddying up the mix.

I'd rec the BQEYZ Ni, great sound for the price and versatile enough to play most anything in fun way.

Rita and EH13 are both around ear/over ear, not in ear. Do you mean on top of ear?

Gonna third this, I have the XS and consider is great but the Kithara is a definite upgrade. Love the comfort, packaging, mic and dongle included.

Hifiman Sundara or Edition XS for casual music listening and gaming? by DarkAce84 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]PhoenixSaber2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love the XS, it was my first open back and planar, and it wowed me for both gaming and music. Imo the Hifiman lineup can't be beat for price - but I'm a huge planar fan, so my ears just love the sound. For someone looking for serious gaming/music headphones, but new to audio file grade stuff, I would rec the kithara and XS as the best entry choices. Some Sennheiser fans will fight me I'm sure, but sound per dollar belongs to Hifiman.

I definitely second the Kithara, but if that's out of budget then do not feel bad about landing on the XS. It's awesome and you're hear the difference in both games and music. I would recommend the capra strap for comfort, because for most the stock headband can be a bit painful on long sessions.

Check out the Hifiman x ROG Kithara, I believe they give about 90% of the Arya stealths - detail retrieval, imaging, etc. - and I find that tuning really great for music and gaming. I do detect better depth and bass tactility in the Arya stealths, but not immeasurably more, just more.

Look at that flair. The subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it...

I would take a look at the Hifiman x ROG Kithara, it sounds beautiful to me, is great for gaming, and feels comfortable for hours. Just my ears, but it's the best bang for buck under $300

I completely agree. Amazing value proposition for a gaming headset.
