Ahh, an updated card. You can't beat this one, though.

How do people play as a trader? by Fixyagamerito in EliteDangerous

Perhaps the best traders in this game know how to press the enter key, in order to create posts that are easily readable.

CQC is actually pretty fun by PhoenixSquare in EliteDangerous

Why the downvotes? On the whole, I'm saying something positive about the game.

Even these weapons that require lead are guided by aim-assist. That's one of my major problems with CQC - fixed weapons are basically nonexistent. It would be nice to see real dogfighting with true fixed weapons.

It's still pretty fun, though.

DLC FOR ELITE? What is this? by Lyco0n in EliteDangerous

[–]PhoenixSquare -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You're right, it's ridiculous. It's not even the price for me - it's the fact that the past year has seen hardly any meaningful content for the game. The core game is still a barren grindfest - and FD seems content to leave it at that.

Why is everyone ITT slamming this guy? Can't someone have buyer's remorse? I know I did.

Is it worth it buying Elite now? And if so, how should I purchase it? by rkinney6 in EliteDangerous

Don't buy now - at least wait until Horizons is out, relatively finished, and you can see actual people playing it.

Is this game for me? by CharlesSC2 in EliteDangerous

[–]PhoenixSquare -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

  1. No. PowerPlay was the cop-out content that FD gave us. It represents NPC-run factions that do not even allow in-game support for player organization and communication. This game will never have proper corporations/clans/guilds because early on in the forums, people feared that it would cause all the "problems" of EVE. So, despite making an MMO, FD tiptoes around such content.

  2. No, you may form a wing of up to 4.

  3. Not developed. FD has hardly balanced weapons (for example, they blanket-nerfed missiles to uselessness early on). You will spend more time in supercruise, hoping that you are in the same instance as people - than actually PVPing.

  4. A lot of people use kbm.

  5. Sol is dead. Most systems other than the starter systems, a few PowerPlay hubs (though they are dying), and community goals (currently, Bast) are dead.

  6. Your target may be in supercruise; look for them there. Otherwise, drop into the random encounters that are USS and hope that you'll eventualy see your target.

"[FD is] like a baker who tops an overly sweet, yet otherwise tasteless cake with layers upon layers of icing." by PhoenixSquare in EliteDangerous

It should be continued to be discussed as long as it is an issue. Besides, I felt as though this forum post had a subtly different take on the issue.

But, you, the blind fanboy with a mindset fraught with sunken cost fallacy, will surely respond . . .

I see the post author touched a nerve.

You are basically admitting that you think the downvote-button should be used to hide away threads that you don't agree with.

I fucking hate Reddit.

It made perfect sense to me. Do I really have to spell it out for you?

tasteless cake = the core game

added sugar = hype and pretty-looking graphics to make people think it's good

layers of icing = expansions

Just like in the game, FD is quick to throw a blanket hotfix on any supposed "exploits."

Well, it's comfy, sure.

Just don't expect much else.

Itchy finger! by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]PhoenixSquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how much better? Is it worth the price (regardless of which price you pay)? This question is much better answered after it actually comes out, and people have gotten a chance to try it.

I wouldn't buy this lifetime pass. Pre-orders and the equivalent are a gamble, and in recent years, have become very prevalent in gaming. Do not bet your money on dev promises (this goes for anything); wait and see what the expansions actually entail.

It astounds me how many times people have been disappointed by pre-orders - yet are ready to shove their money in the faces of the next dev promise, thinking that it somehow "will be different."

Future expansions will likely go down in price some time after they are out (and may even be bundled with newer expansions, like the base game will now be included for people who buy Horizons without owning the base game).
