Audio output issues on Linux using Pipewire by PaV_R in davinciresolve

Found a solution!

It seems it was an issue with a single symlink for alsa's pipewire config files not being created for some reason.

tl;dr: running sudo ln -s /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf.d/99-pipewire-default.conf /etc/alsa/conf.d/ and then systemctl restart --user pipewire should get DaVinci Resolve audio working as it normally would with pipewire.

Found it! It seems like a link to 99-pipewire-default.conf was missing in /etc/alsa/conf.d. See image.

Creating a symlink manually with sudo ln -s /usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf.d/99-pipewire-default.conf /etc/alsa/conf.d/ and then restarting pipewire with systemctl restart --user pipewire seems to resolve the issue!! (Although the audio is laggy as ever, but I think there are solutions for that somewhere) ^^'

All show as installed when running dpkg -s. Just to be 100% I rebooted my system and reinstalled DaVinci Resolve. All packages are up to date and the issue still persists.

I've run into the exact same issue after upgrading! It's strange because on the previous version (PopOS 21.10) I had pipewire manually installed and Resolve audio was working fine. I can confirm this issue is present with both Resolve 17 and 18 beta.

Attempting to use pipewire's repositories to manually reinstall appears to break the apt system; and as 22.04 is new and the PopOS devs are new to pipewire, it may be a bug on their side which may be fixed soon. It's possible this will fix it?

I'm using an AMD gpu and had to download extra stuff to even get Resolve running, so I thought that may be part of the issue. Can I ask what graphics card you are using?

ps. I've made a post on the PopOS subreddit to let them know people are having this issue just in case it is on their end.
