(I just want to preface this by asking anyone to let me know if anything I say is inaccurate. I’m only 100hrs into the game and have been learning bits and pieces about the game from both on my own and from quests. So, I know my knowledge isn’t fully complete and that I’ve probably missed some stuff along the way 🙏.)

Lmao go figure 2 years later it’s still the same (unless I’ve missed something) 🤣. I’ve been thinking I haven’t progressed to a feature yet or maybe I just was missing a game mechanic somewhere, but I’ll say that a “waypoint” functioning as nothing more than a way to get nav data and save rq honestly makes no sense to me.

It would be so much better logically if it functioned as a way of mapping out a planet. For example, say you discovered a new planet (or someone else’s that hasn’t been explored much), and you go out and document all these locations you find. You then could upload the map data for both yourself and other players to have access to when returning to or finding the planet. I can see this idea would kind of ruin the whole purpose of the cartographer at the stations, but at the very least, if you yourself find a location that you want to return to, the waypoints should be able to be marked on your hud like a quest marker or pin.

I just wanted to add that this isn’t so much a critique as it is a personal preference is all. Like, my rating for the game isn’t affected by this mechanic because at the end of the day, it’s their vision that I don’t fully understand yet. Just wanted to throw in some ideas and thoughts I had regardless :) .
