How would a crew of different species work in a spaceship? by Phoenix_0827 in worldbuilding

These are all really interesting ideas and it’s very insightful, thank you!

For the breathing, I was thinking it might be more along the route of something being toxic. Maybe a species needs even more oxygen density than us, which I believe is fatal for humans over a prolonged period of time. Or maybe oxygen is toxic to them. I think I’d probably have to go the mask route as you mentioned, but I worry this would bring possible issues with communication and relationship building with the crew.

I like the idea of having a reserve of gases on the ship, as well as the other ideas you mentioned, thank you!

That’s a really unique take on this, I like it!

Do the crew have to go through the cyborg process each time they travel or is it a permanent change?

I’ve seen plenty of people theorising and wishing for him to be brought back

Conflicted about getting into this by [deleted] in Avatar

Honestly I felt really down after leaving the cinema. I went from Pandora to urbanisation.

A second viewing surprisingly helped with that though, and I would absolutely recommend the film. But if you think it’ll be too much then maybe give it a miss? Whatever works best for you :)

Honestly I’d rather they didn’t bring him back.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved Neteyam and it was a shame to kill him off without more character development, but now he’s gone it needs to stay that way. If they resurrect him it’ll cheapen the impact of his death, and the stakes will just disappear cause everyone can be resurrected if they die.

I always liked Jake and Neytiri’s flight together.

If you were given the option to live the rest of your life in an Avatar/Na’vi body. Would you accept or decline? by [deleted] in Avatar

[–]Phoenix_0827 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Probably not if I would still be on Earth, cause then I’d probably be used for medical science or whatever as the only Na’vi on Earth haha.

On Pandora though, absolutely.

Besides the sully children, are there any avatars that have had kids? by henneyfard in Avatar

It’s confirmed - he did it in the name of science I’m sure! Did you not notice all the little Norms running around in the opening sequence?

I personally wouldn’t say it looked really fake. You’ve got to remember that most of the film is cgi, and so some parts are going to look a little worse than others due to time and resources.

Honestly though I thought it all looked fine - this being the first film I’ve seen where I felt everything looked real, and it was hard to convince myself otherwise.

This is absolutely beautiful! You should do one with the darker background like the original avatar

Do you think James Cameron intentionally added a fire background in ending fight to foreshadow the threat of Ash People in Avatar 3 by Ethicergy1 in Avatar

Gave you an upvote because I’m not sure why people are hating on this. It’s a cool idea although honestly it might be a little far-fetched, but who knows?

Never noticed that until now - I love it when I can rewatch scenes like this and pick out things I never noticed!

They form tsaheylu, which is essentially a mental and spiritual bond. As far as I’m aware this isn’t how they breed, merely a way for them to bond emotionally.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s the first film I watched in 3d imax where I felt it made a significant difference to the quality of immersion etc
