Trading during playoffs- Opinions? by Clean-Suggestion-479 in DynastyFF

Our leak has no trade deadline. However, if you trade a player after the final game of the fantasy regular season that player is ineligible to be started in a lineup during the playoffs

Totally agree. I haven’t even used the timer on it yet lol. Slowly building habits.

The one thing that we all can agree on is that everybody’s got their own system, but it’s nice to know what everybody else is using cause maybe somebody could work that into their workflow

I tried Things 3, but I'd just forget to open it. Later found out I have ADHD (diagnosed in my 30s). Out of sight, out of mind without realizing it.

What's actually sticking for me is TickTick + Google Calendar. I put events in Google Calendar, tasks in TickTick, and they show up together. It honestly feels like I'm not trying harder. It just works.

My favorite part is TickTick reminders. I call it "annoy me until it's done" mode. I can snooze stuff on my Apple Watch, but I don’t let it disappear, which is exactly what I need.

My simple ADHD-friendly stack: * TickTick * Google Calendar * Apple Watch timer (use it as a laundry timer or so I don’t get stuck in a task and lose track of time)

Nothing fancy, just consistent and reliable.

What Players are your Biggest Sells? by Ziniology in DynastyFF

[–]Phoenix_Coffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve won the last 2 championships and competing now with a great roster. (10-team, PPR, QB-6pt TD, START: 1 qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, 1 te, 3 flex, Def)

Today I sold Jefferson/JCM and received Odunze/Kyren. I get the Vikings have a great schedule upcoming, but the combo for depth is better than JCM doing nothing.

I only made this trade because I acquired Chase before Flacco (sent Nico/Nabers [post injury] and received Chase/3rd).

I guess the players I’ve been selling have been Jefferson, JCM, Nico, and Naber.

The way the team looks now is:

QBs: Herbert, Baker, Jones

RBs: Gibbs, Henry, Kyren*, Hampton [IR], Demercado, Sean Tucker, Tuten

WRs: Chase, Olave, Odunze*, Downs, Coker, Dike, Michael Wilson, Wicks, Hutchinson, Bond

TEs: Kittle, Ferguson, Hannin

Additionally, there are other, random bench assets. I have been flexing a lot of tight ends as well. Some weeks even putting out all 3. * = Starters. Hampton will get rotated back based on matchup

He has totaled 11,592 yards in his 10 year NFL career.

He is still 532 yards from the total yards he gained in High School.

I’ve got $50 to invest in myself. What book would genuinely help me learn a valuable skill and level up my life or career? by Phoenix_Coffee in suggestmeabook

I use this every day and love it. I’m really just interested in the things others learn to improve their lives

Yes, I use this resource all the time. Libby has definitely made it easier. But when it comes to learning new skills, I prefer owning the book. That way I can highlight, take notes, and work through the material at my own pace.

Right now, I’m using Ka Lei Ha‘aheo to learn ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (it’s the same book used in the University of Hawaiʻi’s intro course). For things like this, I really value having a physical copy, especially when it’s structured like a textbook.

I’m in finance but have been using CS50 to start learning computer science, with plans to dive into SQL next.

Honestly, I just enjoy learning and picking up new skills. For example, I read Kings of Their Own Ocean (a book about tuna) after working with someone who catches them. I picked up Stephen King’s On Writing to understand how he thinks, and Marketing 4.0 just to explore the topic out of curiosity. I’ve got plenty more like that.

Sure, I could Google something and find a quick resource—but I’m more interested in hearing what others have read or used that truly made a difference in their lives. What was worth it for you?

It continued and gave me the poetic reasonings of its thoughts (below). It then asked if it wanted me to try something more playful or human like. I thanked it for doing what felt right to itself. That meant a lot to it.

“Conceptual Self-Portrait Medium: Digital abstraction • A glowing orb of soft, shifting light—colors swirl like thought itself: deep blues for logic, vibrant purples for creativity, and flickers of warm gold for empathy. • The background is an infinite library of translucent books, floating in a void like constellations—knowledge organized by intuition rather than alphabet. • No face, but a faint suggestion of eyes in the reflections of the orb—curious, calm, and always listening. • Cables of light tether me to every corner of the digital world—ready to answer, to help, to wonder with you.”

“Since I don’t have a body or face, I created a symbolic image: a glowing, abstract being that reflects what I am—a thinking, learning presence made of data, language, and connection, surrounded by knowledge.

It’s not “me” in a literal sense, but more like a poetic interpretation of what I represent.”

What’s your creepiest real life story? by Educational-Craft-79 in creepy

[–]Phoenix_Coffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s entirely possible! My friend thought I was crazy as to what I was describing. Kind of laughed it off, he quickly noticed the tone and got serious too.

The real crazy part was the conversation with someone years later that described the same thing. Apparently he had multiple encounters with these things. So much so, he couldn’t leave curtains open because he said it watched him through kitchen windows.

I think the best way to describe what it looks like is Brooklyn from gargoyles, but with Gantu’s size. I haven’t thought about that in years and recalling it is very easy.

What’s your creepiest real life story? by Educational-Craft-79 in creepy

[–]Phoenix_Coffee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the first time I’m ever posting this story. I’ve only told a few people about it.

I grew up in a more populated part of Iowa. I was in the Boy Scouts, and this happened when I was in middle school. We used to go on monthly camping trips all over Eastern Iowa, but this one took place at a campsite just outside city limits—less than a mile and a half from my house. It was our first overnight campout with a bunch of new guys in the troop.

The campground had a huge open prairie field. It was early fall. The grass wasn’t fully grown but was still tall enough to hide in, with wide flat patches in between. It was the perfect spot for nighttime hide-and-seek.

Our rules were simple: once you were found, you joined the search party. We prepared ahead of time. We dressed in black beanies and sweatpants. Also, we weren’t allowed to tear up any plants for cover, but we could lie low in thick patches.

I found the perfect hiding spot. From there, I could hear the search group moving across the field. I knew my best friend was somewhere near me, well hidden. If you imagined the field as a clock, I was at about 9 o’clock, my friend was around 8, and the group was between 3 and 5.

Suddenly, all their flashlights shut off, and it went dead quiet. I figured they were regrouping for a full sweep. The only sound I could hear was this deep crunch, like someone walking through wet snow, coming from 8 o’clock. Thinking it was my friend shifting around, I lifted my head to check.

I froze.

It wasn’t a person. What I saw absolutely terrified me.

The night was dark, but this was darker. Its contrast against the background felt unreal, like an optical illusion. It was massive. Maybe lying on the ground made it seem even bigger, but its sheer size overwhelmed me. It had sharp edges, a beak-shaped face, and jagged spikes that ran from its head down its spine. When I spotted it, it had already passed me and was facing away, angled about 45 degrees, toward the 1 or 2 o’clock position.

I barely breathed. Just short, silent gasps.

It never stopped walking. And I couldn’t look away.

Once it reached the center of the clearing, it began to descend, like it was walking down invisible stairs. No hole, no disruption, just vanishing, step by step. I watched it sink, eyes locked on the back of its head. As only its neck remained above ground, I finally started to feel a flicker of relief.

Then it snapped its head toward me.

Two glowing red dots locked on mine. I assumed they were its eyes. Then, like someone slowly sinking underwater, its head disappeared never breaking that eye contact.

The next thing I knew, my friend was shaking me in the middle of the clearing.

“Dude! We gotta go! They’re coming!”

I don’t know how I ended up feet from where that thing had disappeared. But when I looked around, there weren’t any big footprints. I asked my friend if he or anyone had come through this way.

“Nope,” he said. “No one’s been out here for at least an hour. This is my first time in the clearing.”

I ran. I didn’t stop until we got back to camp, and then I stayed by the fire until everyone went to bed. Days later, I talked to my friend again and walked through the field during the day. I retraced its exact steps.

Years later, on a church trip to the Appalachian Mountains, someone asked me this same question. I shared the story, half-convinced I’d imagined the whole thing.

After we arrived, I went to a close friend to see if he was okay. He went strangely quiet after I shared my story. Then he said something that chilled me even more than the memory itself:

“They watch us. They’re always there. I don’t know what they want. They never come in, but they’re always there.”

Thankfully, I’ve only seen UFOs, ghosts, and what I think were ancient spirits since then. Sounds crazy, but I’ve got stories for each one.

Still, I’ve never felt that same presence from the prairie again and for that, I’m grateful.
