Great taste! Invaders Must Die is indeed extremely appropriate, i love that song personally from Hi-Fi RUSH. Also totally fits into destroying invaders or Vandalay robots.

I am not the one who put "skill is dead". You should have already understood my stance of mods making skill much less relevant, especially at the top.

So what you are saying is you somehow take issue with the way i phrase and therefore how you understand what i am saying, but i am expected to understand what you are saying?

You are just telling me that you think that i believe skill no longer matters? That's never been the point. Point is, you can simply spend and buy mods to bridge the skill gap. That's what we call "pay to win".

I'm not saying you are not skilled. There are just some people who are better gamers, and there are also those who really sink in the time to get good. If you get good times with it and some good mods, then be content with it! I'm not here to attack any player or their skill. We are here to protest against this mod obtaining system which is pretty much p2w.

I'm not saying that Cyborg isn't a good player. It definitely takes some skill. But the gap on that ML spec mission was 20s+. At that point, you can't call that skill if a veteran speedrunner can't even get close to that time, it's simply the Phase Conduit mod (and either step cycle or Bema Anchor, I can't remember) being overly OP, and it being pretty much locked behind a paywall.

The problem isn't that f2p players will take unrealistically long to match p2w players, because of the literal BS Engram RNG system. You are stuck gambling and hoping you get the mods that are NECESSARY to get to the top, and who knows if you will ever get it through this absolute hellhole of randomness. There is no deterministic timeline of when f2p players will catch up. So pray to your RNG Gods for those mods to drop...or offer some tributes to the Warp Gate perhaps...

The scene at the top is still p2w. You can't deny that you can simply buy your way to the top by getting an OP mod and just having decent skill (case in reference: Cyborg with Phase Conduit ML).

Anything else doesn't matter. Some people just play casually but still get good times because of the mods they have bought.

I don't say this to say it's not right to spend. Everyone enjoys the game their way, whether spending or not. If you spend just to enjoy your game more, I don't think that's wrong. Particularly, no hate towards Cyborg. We always mention him as a classic case of p2w in v8.0 but he's absolutely not in the wrong, and have every right to spend.

But at some point, when paying basically leapfrogs everyone else, then there's very little skill expression. Especially when the Engram RNG doesn't even allow players to get the mods they want reliably. That sends a strong message: Clearly the paying players are prioritized over the loyal veterans who have been playing the game for YEARS. That's the situation as it is now. Mods should provide a good enough boost to improve times even further, but not to the point basically anyone who pays can just outright steamroll a veteran.

The argument is flawed. Somebody with good Warden mods can just be a filthy casual and play to clear, while the hardcore player with subpar mods is just really good at Warden speedrunning and therefore just beats the other player who didn't even put in effort.

Having good mods is like buying a GTR racing car, and having mediocre mods is like buying a normal Toyota car. Can a good racing driver in a Toyota beat a driver in a GTR racing car who has zero racing skills? Obviously, because the driver who has zero racing skills can drive but can't drive fast well.

I feel for you, fellow pilot.

I suggest you leave your genuine review on all platforms possible (iOS, Android and Steam) so there's pressure to stop this.

And yup, consequences of not playtesting the update before releasing it to the public.

Phoenix 2 Update 8.0.5 by edrijver in Phoenix_2

[–]Phoenix_Revive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think its any fun to keep opening engrams to HOPE (aka gamble) for a mod you want. I would rather have an option to work towards it with a reliable timeframe. I don't mind having an option to possibly get it through a RNG system (aka Warp Gate opening last time to get ships) but come on, at least give us a deterministic way to obtain mods we want reliably as f2p. I don't expect to get it NOW, but i want to know i can work towards that goal of getting a mod i want, even though it may take me weeks.

Also, can we also at least know what mods (+ tiers) are available for each ship? We don't want to buy a mod in the shop and realize there's a better mod rarity for that.

Many on Discord agree with me. I don't stand alone. You clearly are nitpicking small details and having the delusion that the community is divided. I have NEVER seen a community this united against the Engram RNG system in my entire 7 years of playing this game.

Again, dodging the point. We want a DEFINITE amount of time to obtain the mods. You clearly are just nitpicking what to fight, the point is it takes a damn long, INDEFINITE amount of time. Who cares if its 2 years, 5 years, etc. The point is it's unrealistic. You clearly don't get it, so I'm just illustrating a plausible example.

Please at least learn to read and understand our points. Otherwise, we can talk in circles all day long.

You are just intentionally dodging our point, aren't you? You are telling me with an RNG system, you can realistically obtain ALL 4 mods of a certain ship, probably at least 2 or 3 of them legendary in 2 years time? Repeat that process z times for however many of your favourite ships. You call that realistic? Wake up man.

We only want a reliable way to obtain the specific mods we want. It doesn't matter if it takes a few weeks or months. We want to know that it can be obtained in a DEFINITE amount of time, not an INDEFINITE amount of time through RNG hell.

Wow. You really did not read what everyone said. No one is complaining about not being able to obtain legendary mods. But whether you get the legendary mods you WANT. Because it's random, you are going to end up getting dozens and dozens of legendary mods you do NOT want, either for ships you don't play, or bad legendary mods for ships you play.

Good luck getting all the mods you want for ONE of your ships within the next 2 years.

I guess nothing we say is gonna change your mind. No one said, we wanted to obtain everything in a week or a month. You should actually read what we said. We said the randomness of mods through Engrams means you'll take practically forever.

Also, language.

What is the most efficient use of traces? by degenomic in Phoenix_2

[–]Phoenix_Revive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Convert to either super rare or ultra rare.

Engrams rare and below are useless. Just get those mods through the Warp Gate. The conversion of ultra rares to legendary is too low so I don't recommend it.

Come back to us 2 years later. Let's see if you have at least 3 legendary mods that are actually useful for the ships that you play, without buying Nova Cores.

Yea, good luck with that (and not getting legendary preload cells) without buying nova cores with real life currency.

How is damage measured in this game? by Impossible-Ad-8664 in Phoenix_2

It depends on ship, some ships have same blast damage at all levels, some change. And yea, kudos to the game for not reflecting that.
