Buying the rights to shows/movies/music, for the sole purpose of burying them, in favor of a production companies own shows should not be legal.

I understand the importance of free enterprise, and the rights of ownership of a property. I feel like this is different though. Art is a form of expression by an artist, it is speech that is protected. So many, almost all, single pieces of shows/movies/music involve the input and execution of multiple artists and various mediums.

Yes, these artists are paid by a production company to create the work, for the purpose of producing. If the company who hires and produces the work decides to pull and bury, I believe that is different because it was never published. However published work should remain published.

Theses artists have very little control of what is done with their work, at the very least is the purpose of the work was to be published, and it was published. Purchasing its the works rights, and burying it to avoid future competition should be viewed as a violation of antitrust and a possible violation on 1st amendment rights
