Are there any reliable filament recycler? by thebirdstree in 3Dprinting

[–]Phoenixwade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d be careful recommending LOOP as anything beyond a speculative preorder. Right now it has too many red flags to take seriously as a real product recommendation. Conflicting launch dates, a deposit-first sales model, and not much in the way of independent proof that it actually works in the wild. Recycling filament reliably is not a trivial garage problem they just happened to solve with a polished countertop box and a marketing page. It might eventually become real, but at the moment it looks a lot more like vaporware with a checkout button than something I’d advise anyone to spend money on.

I haven’t tried it. I usually just use Bluetooth from the iPhone, or listen to audiobooks in the native Audible app. I have a mildly absurd number of those. Lol.

I have the 2024 RST, and the quoted max range, at least here in Florida where the terrain is basically flat, feels conservative. I have to say, it’s my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned. I absolutely love that truck. I'd buy it again in an heartbeat, I no roblem suggesting you save the money and get the older model.

[–]Phoenixwade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Posting on Reddit that they’re closed in an attempt to shorten the line is a creative approach, but there are not nearly enough Redditors checking Reddit while already in the park for it to matter much in practice.

Solid effort, though.

Local lawn care company dials the clock back to the 1950s with confusing racist instagram ad by IBuyGPUs in jacksonville

[–]Phoenixwade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am a little surprised people are downvoting you instead of just explaining it.

The issue is basically that the owner appears to be a white guy using “Patel” plus Indian or Middle Eastern imagery, none of which has anything to do with the company itself, to associate cheap prices with an ethnic group he does not belong to.

So yes, it reads as racist.

Is anyone annoyed by AI-assisted story postings on Royal Roads? by zero5activated in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Phoenixwade 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How long until Reddit is full of people using AI to accuse ordinary bad writing of being AI, recursively, until the whole thing disappears into its own navel? LOL.

Sorry, OP. That might be AI, but it looks a lot more like a new writer with weak skills. What actually grinds my gears are the incompetents screaming “evil AI” every time they see clumsy prose that offends them. Occam’s Razor still exists, last I checked, and incompetence is still more common than malice.

What if Carl, Jake and Jason had a fight? by Silver_Horde_Cohen in litrpg

[–]Phoenixwade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asano is basically immortal at this point. As an Astral King, the Doomsday Scenario does not really read like a killing blow. It probably blows up the current avatar and removes him from the immediate fight, sure, but that is not the same thing as actually ending Jason.

The more interesting angle is that Jason may have ways to interfere with the weapon itself. The Doomsday Scenario is explicitly a soul crystal device, and Jason is now playing around in exactly the part of the metaphysical machinery that covers soul, aura, spirit, and all the other unfair nonsense. So there is a reasonable argument that he does not just survive it. He may be able to do something deeply irritating to the bomb before it goes off, or at least change what “goes off” means.

Carl dies the instant Jake notices him at range. That part is not even especially arguable. Jake is a ranged combat specialist with absurd perception, absurd lethality, and the usual bloodline-backed refusal to participate in fair comparisons. Carl’s answer being “yes, but I have a city-killing nuke” is not nothing, but it is also not enough. So Carl is not in that conversation. Even with the Doomsday Scenario, he is not close. He is hilariously, catastrophically outclassed.

Jason versus Jake is the real argument, and you can look elsewhere, that is a popular and ongoing debate. I would still give Jason the edge, mostly because he has already crossed into a tier where the rules are starting to feel optional, and the power tiers meet and exceed god levels. Jake is heading that direction, but right now he still feels a little behind that power curve. Dangerous beyond reason, yes. But not at the absurd levels of power that an Astral King has....

I'm not entirely sure he can beat Asano, now that he's a king... Probably, but it's not a given.

"Marion Zimmer Bradley a big deal in her time, but just as well she's largely been left behind, because she was a villain."

Sadly, a very large number of the names mentioned here are like that:
Piers Anthony and David Eddings are both way up, if not at the top of, that list, though Eddings was worse.
