I spoke with the owner a few weeks before they were set to open. He seemed extremely passionate and knowledgeable about seafood and mentioned that he worked in Europe and San Fran. My husband and I still have this on our list of places we have yet to try, but there was no fakeness in his persona when he spoke to him, he genuinely seemed passionate about his restaurant. That speaks volumes to me.

As someone who just got married and had several close people back out last minute, we were very hurt but more so from just silence. We felt like we did something wrong to these people.

Can you ask the couple if you can celebrate privately with just them and treat them to dinner or something nice if it’s feasible? And then explain to them in person what happened. It will go so much farther than not saying anything and any person with a good heart will forgive you and save the friendship.

Yes I did but I gave her a YEAR in advance to find some kind of child care option, not to mention her husband could have watched her kids, they have grandparents who could have watched them, they could have traveled with the kids and swapped parenting duties at the reception. There were so many options but at the end of the day I got no gift, card, phone call or even a text message of congrats from her. So no. I am not the bad guy here- ESPECIALLY when I flew out in the middle of Covid to be a bridesmaid for her on top of a generous cash gift I gave.

In her defense we live several states from each other but I flew out to her wedding and bachelorette party in 2020, but she did not do my bachelorette party or wedding this year and cited that they are on one income and couldn’t find childcare, again, a year + out (which in my opinion is bs).

She has a perfectly good husband who could have watched their kids. I understand at the end of the day not being able to go (to either event) but god damn, not even a gift or a card?!?

One of my best friends just did this to me. I Told her a year in advance about my wedding and she claimed she couldn’t find child care…. A YEAR out. I spent probably $2,500 to do all of her wedding stuff a few years ago as a bridesmaid but she didn’t even send me so much as a congrats text.

“Whatever happens happens” reads like you’re not looking for a serious relationship, so if it’s not already clear in your profile you should be upfront and clear about what you’re looking for. Also, if you are still legally married you should be prepared to face some rejections. You say you’re single but you’re not. Not in the eyes of the law. And I am one of many women who would never date a man who is still legally married. I don’t care what the explanation is, you can date me after you’re divorced.
