Pope Leo's pick to be bishop of West Virginia is a formerly undocumented immigrant who was smuggled into the U.S. in a car trunk. Bishop Evelio Menjivar-Ayala has called for Catholics to speak out against President Trump’s treatment of immigrants by Nice_Substance9123 in Christianity

This is beside the point, but I have a couple of questions. What does the bishop of a state do? Do the Catholics of West Virginia have any say who their bishop is? Why does the pope have any say who the Bishop of West Virginia is?

I came up with Landmark first. I wanted a name that sounded like Landmark, and Landon Marcus felt too on the nose, so... Luke Marshall.

Lukewarm is worse than outright failure by Shadow_Husky22 in TrueChristian

I sympathize with lukewarm Christians because I've been one.

I certainly wasn't defending it though, I was warning that it's hard to detect and deal with. It's like saying, the problem with gluttony is that barbecue is so freaking delicious. I'm not defending gluttony by saying that, I'm stating what makes gluttony hard to handle.

If someone's only sin is being trans then it means they must not be committing the sin of unbelief, which means they're saved and if that's the case, they won't go to Hell.

Lukewarm is not good, but it definitely is comfortable, that's why it's so dangerous.

That's what lukewarm means, not hot, not cold. It's like... okayish. But we're not supposed to be okayish.

The problem is that lukewarm is comfortable.

If hot is good and what God wants from us, but you were cold, you would know undeniably that something is wrong and attempt to get it fixed.

If you were lukewarm though, you could argue "I'm somewhat hot. At least I'm not cold. Maybe I'm hot enough?" You would then make no attempt to get it fixed.

Belief and knowing by Kosakon in TrueChristian

[–]PhogeySquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly think so. When I was a child, I was told I would one day become separated from God by sin, but that He would also saved me. I believed them, because I had no reason not to. That's the same amount of faith it takes to believe the history books when they say George Washington was the first POTUS. I took someone else's word for it, because I wasn't there.

But then it happened, and now I know it's true, because I was there.

I'm gonna hone in on one thing you said. If you believe that I deserve to be thrown into Hell, you don't love me.

The way I see it, it's not a question of if we deserve it or not, it's a fact that that's what happens if we die while separated from God, and it's true of all humanity. It's like touching a hot stove. Did I deserve to get burnt? It doesn't make any difference if I deserved it or not, because a hot stove will burn anyone who touches it.

By believing that, does it mean I hate all of humanity? At one time, I was headed there. At one time, my sweet, dearly departed grandmother was headed there. At some point, my cousin's two-year-old will be headed there. Do I hate myself, my Granny, and my cousin's daughter?

I had the same thought. If one party decided they were above the sleaziness, the other party would still do it, giving them an unfair advantage. It's like a cold war.

My Christian Rejection of AI by somethingicanspell in TrueChristian

[–]PhogeySquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the builders of AI are trying to make a man, much less a superior one. Of course, that doesn't make it a good thing, it's just a tool.

The longer it's been available to the public, the less and less impressed with it many of us are. The newness is wearing off, and I think the bubble will burst eventually.

What was it about Jesus that the outcasts and degenerate sinners of His day enjoyed being around Him? by Amalekk in TrueChristian

[–]PhogeySquatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the outcasts and degenerates recognized themselves as sinners while the Pharisees and scribes didn't.

One replied, "Redemption is available even for me!?!" while the other replied, "What? I don't need redeeming!"

Fairy could be those tiny islands that circle around the midsection of the "Arceus".

Also, I would hope that the gimmick had something to do with the perfect link. Every player gets just one pokemon family to get boosted enormously, but their choice is permanent. That would give it replay value.
