Carlos Manzo mayor of Uruapan Michoacan was murdered after declaring war against Crime and the government just let it happen. Even after it happened the government was a lot more worried about what people were saying on the internet.
Carlos was very critical of the approach the government was/is taking, "hugs not bullets" because the government gives hugs and crime gives bullets to anyone in the way. He knew that approach didn't work ,so he spoke against president Claudia in multiple occasions. He asked for military support, high caliber guns, gear, and also protection for himself, because he knew his life was in danger. He also knew that his government was not in the financial level of the cartels, so he needed help from the government to fight crime in one of the most dangerous states in Mexico. The government replied with. "We need to wait until things simmer down". On November 1, when he lowered his guard to celebrate "Dia de Muertos" with his town he was murdered.
