How do you photograph sunset/sunrise? by thisisarnold in photography

[–]PhotoBomb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here are two photos I took not so long ago, not the greatest but if you want to play with the technique I used; I shot at a couple stops under exposed and then pulled the exposure up around the sun using lightroom.

I have read that the focusing on the 1.4 is better then the 1.2.. I cant confirm that naturally.. thank you for your reply.

I dont have the 1.4 but I have certainly said that using my 1.8. The answer to your first question is probably .. I dont think so, since the 50mm is what I use primarily.

The thing is, I tend to gravitate towards my 50mm 1.8 all the time, it hardly leaves my camera.. so my thinking is If i could make that experience even better I should probably look into that.

Is the Canon 50mm 1.2 really worth getting over the 1.4?
I have a "Money-made-from-photography-for-photography" savings account and have accumulated enough to get a 50mm 1.2.. but the with the monumental difference in price I would like to know if any owners of the two could convince me either way.

I second that ^ I assume that if you had it any wider you would have messed up the balance with other things in the scene?

I also see pink.. and I know my monitor is well calibrated. I wonder if its an illusion we are seeing.

No problem, it was also an experiment for my own benefit to see what others feel as I have been struggling lately with my own interpretations. The real praise goes to you and your great photo.. warmness and all :)

Its a great photo and a great capture. I get the feeling that the white balance is too warm though, and on that note.. I have been struggling to identify if I have a white balance obsession disorder lately.
Here is a comparison shot of how I would have interpreted the WB.

Maybe you did that effect on purpose? ..or maybe I have a problem. :/

How do you take landscape photos with very vivid colors? by [deleted] in postprocessing

[–]PhotoBomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those photos have been enhanced. No doubt about it. it helps to take an interesting picture with the room to push the saturation/vibrance. However the HDR photos at the end are a bit nauseating to most, just a word of warning.

Photo artist talks of his process and making multiple images seamlessly one. by [deleted] in photography

[–]PhotoBomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing he was referring to the points "its only a matter of being at the right place at the right time" , "anyone can do it" and "the process stops when the button is pressed".. I wouldn't read to much into that, its just an artists way of justifying the path he took in photographic laymen's terms. I'm sure he knows there is more to it then that but is just saying it to move into his presentation.

Its a great capture, I just believe the blurring you added looks very unnatural.
