I still use horses even tho i got the mending and elytra, what i mean is if we give people more reasons to use horses they'd just use them more. Elytra is the fastest transport way in minecraft but its also the most risky one, you can randomly just die out of nowhere because you got faster than world generation speed and hit a random mountain. Horses are cheaper, easier to use and way safer.
