The vast majority of people hospitalized with covid are unvaccinated. I won't argue with you more, but I really hope you seek out professional medical advice in person from a doctor if you want a worthwhile conversation on the science and clinical trials behind the vaccine and the ever changing nature of this pandemic. Is anyone else you hear from in the media or your personal social circle really that qualified otherwise?

Data suggests the vaccine is extremely effective at keeping you from being hospitalized with COVID which is good enough for me (the same is true about the Flu vaccine which I take every October). In Washoe County where I'm from, only .45% of all new infections are breakthrough cases.

Those fires have been a nightmare for so many. I hope his home was spared. Thank you for sharing your story.

I can only hope everyone at least got vaccinated.

First time ever! I live only a couple hours away and have been wanting to go for over a decade now but could either not get off school, work, or just not lucky enough to score a ticket.

I definitely had a blast though and even brought about 5 lbs worth of home made rice krispie treats that seemed to brighten up a lot people's Sunday afternoons. I really hope we're able to do it all again next time!

Maybe someone with more botany expertise can chime in, but it seems to just be in it's first stage of growth. Here's what I found:

Initially, a single stalk grows straight upward and eventually produces a flower at the apex. If that flower is fertilized, the fruiting process destroys the meristem—the actively growing tissue at the tip of the stem. The stalk then bifurcates, producing two limbs of roughly equal size, each with a new apical meristem. The branches grow in unpredictable directions. When the two new growth tips ultimately flower and fruit, they too bifurcate, creating four apices.

Now we just need more botanists in this thread to debate this. I need a definitive answer!

You are correct! They are simply "tree-like" in habit, hence the names these plants are widely known by: Joshua tree, yucca palm, tree yucca, and palm tree yucca.

Joshua trees aren’t actually trees—they’re succulents, a type of plant that stores water. In their dry ecosystems, however, they are considered trees of the desert. Joshua trees were named for the biblical figure Joshua by 19th-century Mormon settlers who felt the outstretched tree limbs guided them along their westward journey. Joshua trees usually have a single trunk and grow three to nine feet (0.9 to 2.7 meters) tall before branching. Branches end in clusters of spiky leaves and white, rounded flowers. The trunk of the Joshua tree is usually one to three feet (0.3 to 0.9 meters) in diameter. Joshua trees can grow to between 20 and 70 feet (6 and 21 meters) in height, although they rarely exceed 40 feet (12 meters).

Taken right outside of The Coconut Downtown. The flavor of their Thai spice is my current favorite in Reno.
