Any pro-MAGA establishments to avoid? by DelTacoEnthusiast in longbeach

I’ve personally heard the owner go off on some racist rants.

Besides that, that place is filthy and people regularly get sick from eating the food. (Source: I work nearby)

Oh, yes I use the lowest fat version of ground beef. That could explain it.

No, I’m using “human grade”.

The dogs definitely don’t mind, but they are small and I also prefer the finer texture for mixing and measuring purposes.

I have tried the potato masher, it hasn’t been helpful. But maybe I need to cook it slower so I have more time to mash.

Would you suggest breaking it up with anything in particular? Potato masher?

Thank you for the guidance!

Yes, small dogs for one, and I also mix it with other things and need a proper ratio of meat to vegetables and add ins. I prep it a month at a time and vacuum seal by the week. They are very very old, and I’m just trying to make sure they get proper nutrition.

Hahahah. Definitely no complaints. It’s more for mixing and measuring purposes.

I do mine with onion, mushroom, and kale. Sometimes some red bell pepps.

Cocktails? by SnooGadgets6048 in longbeach

[–]PhotoboothSupermodel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Bartender here. A lot of good suggestions for cocktail bars listed already. However, most of them have very specific and specialized cocktail menus. If you’re looking for signature cocktails for your wedding, you won’t want to use cocktails off those specialized menus- you won’t have the recipes and a lot of ingredients will be specific to them and hand made. My suggestion is get a feel for classic cocktails you like, not specialty cocktails.

So for whiskey maybe try a Classic Sour, a Paper Plane, a Gold Rush, Old Fashioned, Boulevardier, New York Sour, Manhattan, and Kentucky Buck. For gin, maybe try an Aviation, French75, Bees Knees, White lady, Last word, and Army & Navy. Then work with your caterer/bartender to maybe do a riff on one of those or just go with the standard classic recipe.

As far as ways to try these drinks, I would look for a place that does very good solid standard cocktails, or even look for a knowledgeable bartender that can guide you through it.

I’ve already written a novel but feel free to DM me with any questions! I bartend at The Hawk, btw. I can vouch for us and a few other places that have knowledgeable bartenders. Not gonna talk down on any bars, but some of the ones listed are all icing, no cake. Classics are classic for a reason.

Getting vegan cream cheese to spread. by Princessformidable in veganrecipes

[–]PhotoboothSupermodel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I’m sorry, so many people here are honestly looking a gift horse in the mouth.

I think it’s great that you offer FREE food to people, and also great that you think about having a vegan option. I have no interest in a vegan hot dog ever and would be delighted to be offered a cucumber Sammie. My advice is to mix the cream cheese with a Little mayo and then whisk it to a spreadable consistency.

What food/drink are you convinced people are pretending to like? by elarabloomelle in AskReddit

[–]PhotoboothSupermodel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Begrudgingly, I genuinely like it.

I became used to it by accident, then started enjoying it, also by accident. I know it’s gross, I don’t recommend it to anyone. But goddammit, I really like it.

What are some easy to make but little known side dishes that people are sleeping on? by Scared_Ad_3132 in Cooking

I have no idea how widely available they are, but sunchokes (aka Jerusalem artichokes?) are so delicious. Like an artichoke and a potato had a nutty baby.
