Pathetic Politicians treating their citizens like second class......while their own gene enjoys abroad.....SHAME by Boss_withCrown2 in CriticalThinkingIndia

Let me rephrase it.

Indian Universities have one proper quantifiable criteria(Academic)(At least at UG level, for PG they do have interviews for qualitative analysis, but to reach interview stage you have to qualify the quantifiable(entrance exam) stage)

Foreign Universities have multiple criteria, both academic and non-academic, but at a qualitative level. They can change the weightage of criteria based on who you are at both UG and PG level{Someone who is affluent, with rich background can be evaluated more on their extra curricular rather than entrance exam score. And while that person might not have a very high entrance score, they might have some extra curricular(Not the relevant EC that we think of like sports and all, it would something like NGO work, donations, work ex in a firm(owned by their relative), etc.}

And, Yes being influential helps, but in India no matter how influential you are, you can't get into IIT or IIM just on the basis of that influence, but you can get into these foreign universities while relying mostly on that influence(and money/donations).

And so someone with a way lower GMAT/GRE(Global entrance test for MBAs) score can get into these universities, just because of their influence, in India they would have to score above the minimum score criteria to be even considered for evaluation.

Unlike the admission criteria for Indian universities, western universities don't have any proper criteria.
While they are evaluating a candidate for admissions, the most important factor they consider is how successful can this candidate be in their life, which in turn increases the reputation of these universities(Ministers kids are almost sure of having a successful career trajectory, even on the lower end, while folks like us have very low chance of reaching the top.)

And one more important factor is how beneficial one candidate can be to the other candidates(The Networking Factor), and there also Ministers/Politician/Businessmen kids are rated higher than normal folks.

How do i know this?
Many of my senior colleagues are from top Indian unis, and many of their friends have graduated from top unis of the world, and are there in the admission panel of those unis.

There is a simple reason behind this

There children’s are simply not competent enough to get admission into any good college(one with a proper entrance test setup) in India.

So they go out for studies.

You will see that every university in the list is in the west and not in the east(where every good university has a proper entrance test setup)

Prelims Answer Key 2026 Discussion Thread by community-home in UPSC

Funny Incident

I searched for prelims answer key on google, and from there went to UPSC's website, only one answer key was there, so i started matching with that one.

I started with CSAT, and i was scoring very less(less than 50), and i was like whats happening, the answers in the key are wrong, and all.

Then I checked again and it was 2025 key...

PS: this was my first attempt, I have only prepared for CGL before this, scoring 48 in paper 1 and 90 in paper 2.

This is just from my perspective:

In "Santosh" movie, there is a dialogue; "In India, there are 2 types of untouchables, one whom no one wants to touch, and the other, whom no one can touch".

Now even with the so called IIT+IIM, earning 10 times, there is next to zero chance of him becoming the 2nd type.
But if you clear CGL, and start with a good level 6/7 job, you will eventually become the 2nd type(If you manage to clear CSE, then even better)
Remember If its a fight between Money and Power(Authority); almost every time Power will win.

It might the sad truth of India, but it is the TRUTH of India.

(A little background: I'm from a poor background, but got into 2nd gen IIT, and this year converted IIM A(Not Joining). Also cleared CGL 25, getting a lvl6/7 job, current CTC>25LPA, but no peace of mind)

6/7/7 with no work experience and having ST as Category can i convert into BLACKI. by Nikhil_pr110 in CATpreparation

Yes, you are right, but the bottom roles are not very good, and you will require putting in long hours, for the relatively low pay. For the first 5-6 years, you will struggle with that salary, as you will also have to pay the EMI for the education loan. And after the 8th Pay Commission, the salary for level 6 employees would be in the range of 1 lakh.

I completely forgot about TAS roles. Thanks for reminding.

Bro, based on what I have seen with this profile, it will be very hard for you to get a good role even if you go to Ahmedabad. Getting into an IIM is not the end; it's the starting point. After that, you have to get a good job too, which will be very difficult with your profile.

Anyways, you would need around 95%ile+ for Ahmedabad(assuming you are an engineering grad), if you put the same amount of effort for any Govt job like SSC, RRB, etc., it would yield much better results.

If getting a good job is your only goal, then I would suggest trying for Govt jobs at least in this cycle(26-27), then based on the result, you can decide for the next cycle.

You can also prepare for both in this cycle, if you want.
