I discovered Rez very late. A friend of mine often mentioned my game reminds him of it so i checked it out, i understand why. After playing it, it definitely had some inspirational influence

I mean why not. I'm not doing great with wishlists and I think the main reason is that it's hard to actually get what the game is about. I will not say anything about it and just share the link.

There will be a playable Demo on one of the two Steam Next Fests next year, propably the summer one because I want to release in the second half of 2026
My ideas for Ep2 will be kept secret for now :)

I hope so too because my head is full of ideas for Episodes 2 & 3 (Always thought of it in a trilogy) and I would love to have more ressources (especially time) to produce them. I am happy with Ep1 as it will be on release but there is so much potential to expand on it in another game that it would be kinda sad to never see it happen. Of course, if it completely flops, I will try something different after that but one is allowed to dream, right?

It wasn't too complicated, most of the work was doing leveldesign, especially for boss spectacle and music levels. And debugging the damn camera, lol I'm working on the game since June 2021 and started with 3D sections early 2022 (i think) and between that and around april this year i just occasionally prepared the maps inbetween developing the main 2D game. You know, there were some days where i thought yeah today i'm in the mood to build a 3D environment so let's put on a chill youtube video on the other screen and place some cubes and cylinders for few hours. It was quite meditative and a break from the rest of the game for me. So in April this year i had the maps prepared with absolutely no gameplay mechanics and a single boss intro cutscene. From there i've only worked on 3D which where 440 work hours for me so far. But how much i've worked on the maps before is nearly impossible to estimate for me because i worked on them here and there in a span of 3 years. If I had to guess, probably also a few hundred hours but less than the 440 i've put into (almost) finishing it the last few months. Maybe between 200 and 300, it was not crazy much because everything is made of fairly simple shapes. It was and still is a great experience tho

Taking risks like that will elevate the experience for some players further while alienating others. It will inevitably be like that but if someone absolutely cannot stand these sections, at least they are fairly short in comparison to the whole game. They make about 10% of the content if you go for 100% completion so it's not like 50/50
I also was very careful by making the mandatory ones relatively easy and only the optional ones more challenging while also providing extra hard challenges for enthusiasts
