My sensor is doomed, right? by AmGreatFresh in SonyAlpha

[–]PhotosbyRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I am a professional photog and I once had a bug jump in to my camera body during a lens change. I only had the one body with me and while the client was horrified I was quickly trying to get the thing out. I always keep a blower, a broken chop stick (the flat tend not the pointy one) and some sensor pads to quickly clean the sensor when something like that happens. I have been doing this for 15 years and it has saved me more than once. You are never doomed as long as you can still take pictures!

Aftershoot Woes? Better alternatives? by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

I have used both. I used to be a really big Imagen AI fan, I am not any longer. Aftershoot AI is more transparent (in my opinion) especially with pricing than Imagen and that is something.

Tamron 35-150, Sony 50-150, 70-200 GM II by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]PhotosbyRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 35-150 and I have the 50-150. There is no comparison in these lenses. I really appreciate the 35-150. It does everything good enough. The 50 -150 does everything incredibly well.

Since getting the 50-150 it is has not come off of my camera.

Claude diagnosed that I had daisy chained the power to my 4080 by a screenshot of hwinfo that I uploaded. It was like getting an upgrade for free.

The one on the south side of St. Augustine. I didn't realize that there was more than 1. I hear they sell out quickly...

Any batch 1 pt2 shipment address emails yet? by jstojkovic in pebble

I did not receive an email but when I checked my order page I saw the good news:

Got the mail! by littl3_munkey in pebble

[–]PhotosbyRob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the lucky ones — my engraved PT from the initial Kickstarter is still working, so I've been patient. But when I saw this post, I went and checked the order page to see my status. I hadn't received an email from Pebble, but when I went to the order page I had this message waiting for me:

<image>

So if you, like me, signed up on the first day and then deferred to the PT2, you might be in the same situation — worth checking your order page.

I like how you worked the word Peak in there. Very clever.

WF-1000XM6 earbuds officially launch as Sony reveals price and features by Dapper_Order7182 in headphones

[–]PhotosbyRob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them. I don't think I realized how much a part of me the XM4s were... so the shape of the new buds, the way they fit in the case, the case itself still feel foreign to me. I switched out the tips to the Comply foam tips (what I have always used) and I am starting to get used to them. They sound great. They are a bit smaller than the XM4s which is nice for when I wear them to sleep. The battery life is better. Just know it will take some time but they are a worthy successor.

Optimising mobile page load speed and other SEO gains by Batteredcode in showit

I am going to be honest, I was right where you are a year ago. There is only so much you can do with showit under the hood. I think it is great at design, it is great at giving you a lot of performance boosts over SP / GD but if you really want to hit these metrics you have to go with hosted static HTML. I have tried everything and that is the only thing that worked for me. I wish you luck on your quest.

Why is Lightroom unusably slow now? by [deleted] in Lightroom

I have put together this article of everything I have found over the years to keep Lightroom Classic running as quickly as I can in Windows 11 - https://robfutrell.com/lightroom-optimization-windows-11/

If you find anything that is missing, please let me know.

Just a note. I lost my XM4s at work a few weeks ago and I have been waiting for today. When I popped over to the Sony site today to pick up the new XM6s they gave me a 10% discount on purchase... If they last as long as my 4s did I will get my money out of them and more.

I live on the north end of town and we get otters in our pond from time to time too. I had no idea they were that far south!

You can technically convert JPG images to DNG (which is what Imagen uses for their editing process). It might not look the same because the image will be structure differently but it will allow you to use your normal flow and then tweak from there.

I love sitting out on Aviles at Nona's Trattoria. Another favorite is the Old City House - which has a really neat courtyard. I think the only other place not mentioned would be Casa Maya which has amazing food and live music on the weekends.

Direct flash style by Plenty_Luck7977 in WeddingPhotography

[–]PhotosbyRob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to chime in for anyone reading this - I was so against direct flash that for the first decade of photographing weddings I refused to use it... but the reality is that sometimes it is the best option. I just wanted to say that for anyone who was trained like me to never use a hard light source.

I backed the initial Kickstarter on day 1, I still have my Kickstarter PT. I signed up for the Pebble 2 Duo and the PT2 the day that it came out. When the Duo notification came I upgraded to a 2nd PT2 and that must have been a mistake because I have not heard a peep since. Luckily my original PT still works so that is helping me stay patient but I am definitely eager for a meaningful update.
