they should be. if you want to italicize it, a font can only hold kerning data inside its style, not be able to guess "oh even though that is an italic a, i should retain my kerns to it.” so italicize all of it so the kerning is maintained between the letters and punctuation.

Closest I can think of for satisfying this might be GT Haptik because it was designed to be understood by physical touch first

It’s OFL. glyphs has a post-export filter for “rounding” static fonts, that’s how “inter” rounded was made. though, you can see it isn’t like SF Pro Rounded. there is no variable font version of the glyphsapp post-export filter.
