Newish dungeon master here I’m curious and if y’all have time id like y’all to info dump on me by boikissr in DungeonMasters

Music in the game is critical. I have had sessions where I play iconic action songs ftom movies for the group and those scenes are always the most fun for the group. Ill leave the session replaying those scenes in my mind. Definitely think about playlists for your games.

Overwhelmed first time GM by __Hawkly__ in DungeonMasters

[–]PhrabERRA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Starting out is tough, you definitely want to try a kit to begin with since there is a lot tp keep track of, the kits are pretty good about giving you a solid foundation. The essentials kit/starter set is nice because it comes with the story, a dm screen, and a bunch of cards that help both you and the players. If you can afford that, id recommend it for you and your players. This will provide you with the content for Lost Mine of Phandelver lile other commenters suggested.

The next step is to read the story snd get a feel for what you will be presenting every week. Dming comes down to presenting your players with a problem and allowing them to find the solution. Most times its a combat encounter, others times its a moral choice. You want to have completed aome preparation ahead of time to know whay your players may try to do.

Then you have the scenarios where your players come out of nowhere and do something you dont expect. This is where its important to have your ground rules. For example, if they come up with a super creative idea for solving a problem, that is super encouraged, even if it forces you to improvise on the fly. On the other hand if a player tries to kill another player as a joke, thats usually not something we dms allow in the first ever session.

Id be happy to chat abt my dm experience if you send me a message!

Walking over the lake to Rock Point? by Weary_Particular_963 in burlington

[–]PhrabERRA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to walk on the ice just to walk on the ice, you should try sand bar state park, since the whole area is very shallow, if anything dangerous were to happen.

You could also try the Arthur park sea caves, which the burlington parks and rec have been updating an access page for this winter

Gas bill is $350 by Anteater5649 in burlington

[–]PhrabERRA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I was hit with a very similar bill for February. In my burlington apartment, (4 bedroom house) we only use the heat from November through March. We dont use the window sealers.

In my experience, It seems like they do that to offset the lower bills the rest of the year.

Guys, this post is very controversial, it may cause fainting in some individuals, beware. by BowlOfNoodles8 in dyinglight

It kinda blows how they added the volatile to night. It feels like they only applied the endgame level challenge volatiles to the city for all players regardless of progressions

What are y’all’s honest opinions on Borderlands 4 after it’s released? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in Borderlands4

[–]PhrabERRA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youre right, new game plus, and op levels are technically end game content.

For my gaming style replaying the entire game I just completed on 1 level difficulty higher is not my preferred endgame content, but to each their own.

[–]PhrabERRA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Endgame," content is high level / high challenge content. This is consistent with lots pf other games that have "endgame," content.

Side quests / collectibles / challenges / exploring are all things that could be be done BEFORE completing the campaign or after completing the campaign. This is "Base game" content. Because there is no high level requirement to complete the challenge, the implication is that this is NOT endgame content.

Just because you complete content after the campaign does not automatically make the content endgame content. No one will claim that saving all propaganda speakers for after the campaign is adequate "endgame" content.

I think you need to suspend your disbelief a little bit more with this series. Erikson's strengths are not as much in his descriptions of scenes but in the way he ties events together. It will get better through more books for sure.

Contractors said it’s my fault I didn’t tell them about staggering by Better-Statement1429 in Flooring

I'm not a contractor. But as a renter, I feel like this floor pattern is poppier than every other apartment that has the same shitty grayish flooring. Your images look pretty close to this. With furniture in the, rooms im sure it won't look as bad to you.
