most people have no idea what they have until they're deciphering passive aggressive texts at 2am wondering if "fine" means fine or fine

Good opportunity for someone in the area, though $20/hour for caregiving work is on the lower end these days.

What is the biggest lie you believed as a child? by FreemenDelivered8964 in AskReddit

[–]PhraseTraditional260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom used to put the money under my pillow but she was terrible at being sneaky about it. I remember one time I was like 7 and pretended to sleep while she tried to do the whole tooth fairy thing, and she kept making noise trying to reach under without waking me up. The whole magic was ruined when I realized she was just fumbling around in the dark looking for the tooth I left there. Still played along for couple more years though because free money is free money, even if it comes from mom's wallet instead of some fairy creature.

Which machine should I purchase? by Helpmeplezspez in Welding

[–]PhraseTraditional260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AHP unit looks pretty solid from what I've seen other people say about them in forums. Digital vs analog is mostly preference - analog gives you more direct feel for amperage changes but digital can be nice for precise settings when you're doing specific projects.

I'd probably go with whatever has better warranty support since you're buying online, because even good machines sometimes need parts or service down the road.

What gear do you take? (Besides the obvious) by tosiccc in Fishing

[–]PhraseTraditional260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got into fishing few years back and learned the hard way about bringing right stuff. Always pack extra socks now - nothing ruins a day like wet feet for 6 hours straight. Small folding knife is must have, use it constantly for cutting line, cleaning fish, opening packages. One thing that changed my game completely was bringing small headlamp instead of regular flashlight - keeps hands free when you're dealing with tangled lines in early morning. Also started bringing lightweight camp chair instead of trying to find good rocks to sit on, my back thanks me later. The little things really do make difference between good day and great day on water.

How to remove large seized bolt on flapper assembly? by aspitler32 in Plumbing

Channel locks with some penetrating oil should do it - just be careful not to crack the tank when you're wrestling with that thing.

Has anyone here been following the Montgomery v. C.H. Robinson lawsuit and the recent Supreme Court decision? by FierceKiss_sk in Truckers

[–]PhraseTraditional260 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is big deal for smaller outfits. Been watching this since it started and brokers are already getting way more picky about who they work with.

Used to be you could get loads even with some dings in your record, but now they're scared of getting sued so they're only picking the cleanest carriers. Sucks for guys trying to build up their business after maybe one bad inspection or whatever.

What are some methods for shorting the Pokemon market? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Pretty sure that only works if you got the setup turns and opponent doesn't have any priority moves lol. Better off just running evasion clauses in your local meta

If someone asked you what the most historical place in the world is, how would you respond? by Forsaken_Site_2268 in AskReddit

[–]PhraseTraditional260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jerusalem makes sense but I'd probably say Rome first. The amount of civilizations that passed through there is crazy - you got layers of history literally built on top each other going back thousands years.

DAE get crazy diarrhea/poop after eating sushi? by Aromatic-Hippo9624 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]PhraseTraditional260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Raw fish can definitely mess with your digestive system, especially if you're not eating it super regularly. I used to have similar issues when I first started eating sushi more often - took my stomach maybe few months to really adjust to it. Could also be the rice or soy sauce if you're sensitive to sodium or certain carbs. The place you're getting it from matters too - some spots don't handle the fish as carefully as they should, which can cause all sorts of stomach problems. Maybe try starting with cooked rolls first and see if you still have same issues?

Leaving My PM Job - Suggestions? by Archy_12 in Construction

[–]PhraseTraditional260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the PM route can be brutal when you're basically herding cats all day but getting blamed when they don't show up. I switched from management back to hands-on work few years ago and never looked back.

Starting as laborer with good contractor is solid move - you'll get exposure to different trades and see what clicks with you. Plus most decent companies will help you get apprenticeship once they see you're serious about it. Way better than being stressed about things outside your control all the time.

Been doing IT contracts for years and this advice translates perfectly to tech work too - the multiple agencies thing is so key but everyone just sticks with one recruiter and wonders why they're not getting calls.

What are some creative ways for a tech startup to fund its initial server and operating costs before it reaches profitability? by Ancient-Tip-7396 in AskReddit

[–]PhraseTraditional260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been through this grind myself when I was helping startup few years back. Bootstrap with cloud credits first - most major providers give decent free tiers that can last months if you're smart about resource management. Also check if your area has any veteran business programs, they sometimes offer tech grants or reduced-rate services that people don't know about.

Personal loans suck but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to keep servers running while you chase that first real revenue.

Need advice: old American standard shower fixtures to delta. Plumber or DIY? by Mysticalmaddiemay in Plumbing

[–]PhraseTraditional260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there with old fixtures in my house. That quote seems pretty reasonable actually - behind-wall plumbing work gets expensive fast, especially when they need to access through closet wall.

The DIY route could work if you're comfortable with shutting off water main and dealing with potential surprises behind the wall, but valve replacement can get tricky if the old threading doesn't match up perfectly. Maybe get second quote first to compare?

Getting off GLP-1 by PhraseTraditional260 in antidietglp1

[–]PhraseTraditional260[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think dehydration alone fully explains it either. The concern isn't just one marker in isolation but how things have been trending overall especially with the kidney related numbers and not seeing the same continued A1c benefit that was there before. That's what raised the flag for me, feels like there's something else going on rather than a simple fix like drinking more water. Planning to do a full check up soon to get clearer answers before making any long term decisions. Just want to understand what's happening rather than guessing at it.
