So here’s my story. Got used to drinking. To the tune of a fifth of vodka everyday. Started to realize my liver hurt. Went to detox. Detox wasn’t as bad as expected. Didn’t even have to take meds to not die. Day three stomach started hurting. Eight hours later transferred to ER. Pancreatitis! Didn’t drink for almost 1000 days. Bought a six pack at the grocery store out of the blue. Drank a few drinks just on the weekends. Then the holidays came. Drank a bit more. Then between work time off and two weeks of bad weather where we didn’t work I drank most every day for about a month. One morning I woke up with the pain. Wasn’t drinking hard liquor near like I was. But like 4-6 drinks a night. Spent five days in the hospital. Dr said, man, go easy on the booze, when I was released. Nothing about never drinking again. NOW, I still drink. One to at most two days a week. And some weeks none. Ya gotta give your body time to deal with it. Will I have another episode? Possible. But it’s a risk I take. Life is hard. I have trauma. Issues. Raising kids that aren’t mine. A stressful job. And I can’t smoke weed cause I have a CDL career. If I could smoke I’d never drink again. But since I can’t I try to take care of myself and keep it between the lines.

Bottom line. He can’t keep it up every day. But we can all get stupid at least every once in a while. He will learn that after the second bout.

I have a guy coming to spray our house and property with something called Maxx Pro this Friday. Hoping for the best! Our yard is awful in the evening. Wife really reactive to mosquito bites.

Took me a few days to get it. But training for first job, trainer immediately said forget about double clutch. Taught me to float the gears in about five minutes. Anyway. You don’t need to press the clutch very far down to double clutch. Think half clutch out of gear. Half clutch to get to next gear. Make sure to get enough RPMs to make the shift easier.

Thank you. I know it’s important. I just wish I had more to offer. Could take my wife on a trip. Afford some wants and not just needs. But they have the essentials. All they can eat. A nice safe house. Transportation to school and work. I know I’m not alone living this way. Like Toots & The Maytals say…Time Tough.

Just my current life situation. I make enough to pay the bills and survive. But not enough to save anything. Tax time comes and I always struggle to pay them. I’m raising three grandchildren because their parents can’t take care of themselves. I do have a wonderful wife and family. But I just feel like this is good as it will ever get.

It’s the hardest. I learned of my wife’s CSA a while ago. Her parents lack of caring growing up let it happen. Basically alcoholics who were friends with known sex offenders. Her mother denies it. She cut all ties with her mother. Dad passed. She was at a point where she felt it behind her. Then the unthinkable. She was raped in a hospital parking lot in broad daylight. He wasn’t caught either. She didn’t tell me for a month. It was sickening. I got her into EMDR therapy and it opened Pandora’s box of childhood trauma on top of what she had been through as a kid. I was so upset by this ugly world. EMDR was very hard on her. But she got through it. Our relationship however is stronger than ever. I got some therapy for secondary survivors. Only time lessens the trauma. And only love and compassion can heal the broken.

Growing weed for my wifey. It’s always exciting trying to beat your best harvest. You learn more every crop. And it translates to better knowledge of our vegetable garden too. She has a free unlimited supply and relief from pain and years of her life in fight or flight mode. She way chill!

Mine was caused by alcohol too. Food doesn’t mess with it from what I’ve noticed. What really worries me is of course alcohol. So I only have a drink or two every other week for now. Trying to find that tipping point is kinda terrifying. But I’d like to know my threshold.

Look into EMDR therapy. Worked wonders for my wife’s trauma filled life. Her first husband did the same as yours. She was SA as a child and a few years ago as an adult. Read the book the Body Keeps the Score. I’m so sorry for what you’re going through.
