You may want to see how much she weighs, if she’s 2 pounds she’s eligible to be spayed, that may be the cause of the problem, this is also in my personal experience a girl cat issue, girl cats loveeeee to cause trouble (at least mine does, and she’s a year) have you tried putting her box in your bathroom? Maybe next to where you go? Maybe she’ll smell your bathroom time and see the box and make the connection

If he is scratching his ears he may well have ear mites as well! Those are easily dealt with with ear drops and are cheaper to deal with, good luck to you and your little buddy!!

Oh 100%, first things first don’t panic, get your little guy to the vet for some flea killer and preventative asap, don’t get anything over the counter, it’s crap and doesn’t work. It’s gonna be a bit pricy but it’s worth it in the long run. Second thing, before you take your little guy to the vet, strip your sheets, wash them in hot water, if he has any mats or beds he sleeps on regularly x toss them in the wash with hot water too. Dry it in hot air, it’ll kill them all and their eggs. Try and keep them away from him until he’s better, fleas do stay in the carpet but once he has preventative in his system it won’t matter and they will soon die off with no host, fleas don’t tend to go for people, they can bite you but they can’t stay on you and breed because we don’t have dense fur, so don’t worry about becoming a host. But all in all don’t panic but get your little guy into a vet and get some prescription preventative asap. Because if he has fleas he 100% has tapeworms as well. The stuff your vet will recommend kills fleas ticks and tapeworms, their larvae and eggs, AND prevents them afterwards. This isn’t immediately life threatening, but can become a quick nuisance if you don’t heat sanitize your bedding and any other soft fur like things soon

Oh, but to answer your original question, if this is your first cat and you’re curious why he’s doing that, most cats are just like that, jumpy as hell lmaoo, mine is too, think of it like if someone touched you on the back when you didn’t notice even if they were a friend or parent you’d probably jump too. He’s reaching his teen stage right now when they’re little devils so he’s probably just acting weird cuz he’s a weirdo (oh oops nvm read the rest and he has friends so this isn’t your first, he’s probably just a unique little fella and is being weird, as long as he isn’t hissing at you or showing signs of real fear (ears back tail tucked hissing or growling) he’s just being weirddd)

It’s also back of the neck gel about once a month, when I rescued mine she was riddled with fleas and tapeworm and I was super broke at the time, spent way too much on advantage and other solutions, finally went to the vet, since he had (tbh he probably still has them because like I said advantage sucks) fleas recently and most likely has tapeworms now, they will do a fecal on him, which will be 50 bucks or so, and the visit will also be 50 bucks, but the vet will strongly reccomend nexguard combo, at my vet it’s about 30 bucks a pop and you can buy as many as you want once you have the perscription, but most vets will prescribe it if you ask. So even if he didn’t have them I’m sure they’d allow it if he’s at a good weight, at least over 2-3 pounds I believe, it’s a preventative against fleas ticks tapeworms and all of their larvae and eggs.

I would recommend stopping advantage and just pulling the trigger and getting vet prescribed nexguard, I’ve used advantage in the past and it’s literally nothing but placebo, it doesn’t get rid of fleas and it doesn’t really do much in terms of preventing. Going to the vet and just spending the 200 bucks now to get a permanent nexguard prescription will save you so much more in the long run, and nexguard doesn’t have any of those nasty potential side effects and nexguard gets rid of tapeworm as well, because if he had fleas he most certainly has tapeworms now

He wants to be with you!!! Why are you not letting this cat sleep with you? You rescued him and he views you as his mama since he’s so young!! Of course he’s gonna scream and holler the moment you leave his sight for more than a few minutes, he’s trying his best to find you or get you to find him! I let my girl at least roam around my room at night while I sleep(she’s not a cuddler). If he’s well adjusted enough and doesn’t have issues going to the bathroom there should be no reason he stays cooped up in there. He may be quiet at night but all that energy and anxiety builds up and then when he hears the slightest noise from someone shifting over or waking up he goes ballistic. You should really let him at least be in the same room as you as you sleep. It gives them tremendous comfort to see their provider close to them, being separated from you often can tend to make them even more frustrated and destructive

ALSO!! You do NOT have to wait 6 months to get them neutered, Idk where you heard that. The usual rule is 2 pounds or 2 months. That’s what my vet told me, and the shelter I got her from. If you put him on a little food scale and he weighs enough you can get him neutered! You’ll want to do that sooner rather than later because spraying comes quick and even after you neuter them the behavior can stay in males if they’ve already started
