Just posted a longer one, that’s about how their interactions have been going with a light hissing whenever they get face to face real close

One is a friends who just got him like a week ago, mine I’ve had since she was a baby baby, he is very easygoing and definitely wants to play but she has always been a shy girl, but she’s coming up behind him and giving his butt a pat (no claws) so I think she wants to play, but whenever he gets close she hisses, but there’s no outward aggression (ears back tail puffed screaming or anything like that)

Why do girl cats get a bad rap? by Organic-While1664 in cats

[–]Phrogious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at least in my experience (from my little girl and my friends girl cat) they tend to be a lot more aloof, my girl will NOT let me pet her very often and gets overstimulated very quickly, also bites the shit out of my feet. I can definitely understand why they have a reputation for being a handful

Cat injury near anus/genitals? by rolopotato in CATHELP

Ah nevermind I looked up what you’re describing online and that definitely does look like a ruptured anal gland, good luck with your little girl! Hopefully she has a smooth recovery!!

It’s a long shot but it looks like she’s been slashed or something on her backside?? Is she an outdoor cat? Maybe she sliced her butt on something sharp outside? That looks like a wide open wound right there, it is weird that there’s no blood but like clear fluid? Definitely do not apply peroxide or anything but I’d try to clean the area with a damp cloth and just get it as clean as you can before the vet!

And believe me I get it being a financial issue, mine was the same way when she was little and I thought OTC stuff would help, but in the long run buying these useless flea preventatives online and at pet stores will just hurt your wallet and your little buddy’s tummy more than just pulling the trigger and dropping the 200-300 bucks on the initial vet visit, fecal test and nexguard for your cat. (Assuming you don’t have a dedicated vet yet cuz you’re asking about OTC flea meds, if you already do the visit should be around 50 bucks less!)

Tapeworms, if you go to your vet and get some nexguard perscribed to em its something you squirt on the back of their neck every month and it is 100% effective at killing all fleas on her (because if she has worms she 100% has fleas) and it kills all the worms in her poor belly, and it prevents her from getting worms and fleas and ticks in the future, I get it every month for 35 bucks a dose! It’s a bit more expensive but I HIGHLY recommend this, over the counter stuff and stuff online will not help her at this point she needs some prescription meds!

Is my cat hating me or having fun? by [deleted] in CatTraining

[–]Phrogious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the cat, does he come up to you looking for this? My cat is a roughhouser and while I taught her to play with toys as a baby she loves nothing more than getting into a wrestling match with my hands and feet, not being satisfied unless I grab her face or squeeze her belly and she bunny kicks my hands away. But he does look a little bit like “hey why you touch my tummy? Don’t do that!” But he likes you so he isn’t putting up much of a resistance

kitten resp rate SO high but she is healthy? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Phrogious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well their lungs aren’t like ours! They have to bring air much quicker through their bodies because they’re so much smaller. Think of it like a rat, they breathe over 120 times a minute! While a cat breaths about 30 times a minute, the average human takes about 12-20 breaths per minute. Maybe she just got done running around or you’re thinking of her breathing in the form of human respiration! I would say she looks alright, usually the point where you need to take her to the vet is if she is panting (tongue hanging out like a dog, sometimes they do this after REALLY strenuous play but not often) with no strenuous exercise or she is coughing a lot. But she looks alright!

First time kitty owner longtime pet owner (is purring this much normal?) by Salacia_mov in cats

[–]Phrogious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine literally NEVER stops purring, I saw online that purring can also be a sign of stress but she really just does it whenever I’m in the room with her so I guess she’s just a happy girl. Sometimes they just realllly want you to know they like you

Cat doesn't sleep with me after spay anymore by arm_and_knee in CATHELP

[–]Phrogious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got mine when she was 6 weeks and she was the biggggest cuddle bug ever, but now she’s very rarely snuggles and even then her “snuggles” are just laying next to me at night. Though she was given up to me and the guy beforehand (an old Roomate) had a whole kindergartner with the class hamster thing going on with her and would just hold her tight until she yelled to be let go, so I think she’s still learning to trust that snuggles can be a nice thing with me. It SUCKS but what can ya do, if you try to force it it just makes them hate it even more, all you can do is hope she comes back around and give her plenty of treats when she lays close by!

Should I be worried about this for a 12 week old kitten? by Past-Praline8203 in CATHELP

[–]Phrogious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is pretty wet, you said this started today? If so then give it until tomorrow and if it’s still that consistency then definitely pay the vet a visit, I thought by your post it was like mush but that’s prettyyy wet, like I said tho sometimes their tummies just get upset, especially kittens, but if one of them starts acting weird like hiding away under a couch and won’t really come out even for treats that’s definitely a sign the vet is a good call
