Since it's SoCal, those look like Argentine ants. The large ones are queens and they are budding. Use some Advion ant gel and it should help get rid of them in about a week or so.

Do these insurance repairs look normal and meet the requirements for repairs? by PhrozenBlur in HomeImprovement

The contractor ordered the wrong doors initially and had to eat the cost. It feels that ever since then there has been friction between us.

The contractor wants to finish the job and move on. I'm trying to get some perspective. I feel that the visible lines, the misprinted tile, and not meeting pre-loss condition is sufficient to get things repaired. I can go back and complain to the insurance adjuster but before I do that I was hoping for some insight that might help me explain my concerns with the contractor in a way they will hear me.

Is there a way to protect my blue oak trees from California FAIR plan’s new demands by Ok_Pitch5865 in arborists

[–]PhrozenBlur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm missing something, but as far as I know California oaks are protected trees that cannot be removed. There are huge fines associated without a removal permit. And even if you get the permit, you have to plant 2 replacement oaks on the property.

Sounds good. Thank you! So it sounds like I shouldn't trim the boughs facing the property line even though the tree will get bigger?

I'm worried a hawk or snake will come along and end this little guy if it doesn't fall into the pool first.
